Confirmation letters...important or not?

I switched our room-only reservations (made last November) to a package + a separate 3-night room-only reservation at the beginning of March. I am leaving in under 20 days. As of yet, I have not received either of my two expected confirmation letters (one for POR; one for CR). If I call again to request them, it will make 4 times in total that I have called to try to get the conf. letters.

What should I do? When I call, my reservation is in the computer, so I guess everything is okay, but should I try again for conf. letters? If so, who should I contact since the other attempts haven't worked? Should I just let it go and show up at the front desks? (I have the confirmation numbers...just not the letters).

Thanks!

I feel your pain about the confirmation letters. We have received nine letters since March. All of them say that we have paid nothing on our trip. According to the computers at Disney they do indeed have our correct amount paid recorded. We have called Disney to send us a correct letter. We have been told that each letter takes 7-14 days to reach us.(Our payment by regular mail can get there in three days!)However, each letter is just a repeat of the last.
Anyway, one of the CMs said that she would be happy to fax us our correct information(we aren't leaving until September so there is no urgency for us).
So call and ask them if they can fax you a copy for your records of the correct amount. In case they can't or won't for you; bring all your reciepts of payments or credit charges.
I am sure you will have no problem but if you go prepared then there won't be any questions about your payments. I don't know who Disney is dealing with for a travel agency but they have got some serious issues that need to be dealt with, people should not have to beg for confirmation letters or have those letters constantly be wrong. I hope you have a swell time!

I had the same problem--booked in Oct with package, then changed in March to room only. Never got a conf letter and I called 3 TIMES----do you know when it arrived?? The day before we were leaving.

The last time I called, the CM told me it wasn't that important, as long as we had our reservation number. Have you checked your ressie online to be sure it's all ok?? If so, then I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Have fun :)

Thanks, guys....I hadn't thought of requesting a fax. I think that I'll try that...plus I'll go online and check, too. Some people have had trouble with the online responses, though, so maybe I'll take the info. that I get at DW.com with a grain of salt. :goodvibes

No, don't just let it go. You need to have a confirmation letter and here's why: At this point, you have NOTHING TO PROVE what your dates, or your rate is. Mistakes happen. It is possible you arrive at your hotel and they charge you a higher rack because "that's what I'm showing in the system" and you have NOTHING TO PROVE what you should be charged.

Dad came down last Mar. Now, he wasn't staying at Disney, but it's a hotel he's stayed at a few times over the past years not far from DW. He had (mistakenly) thrown away his confirmation letter, but since he's stayed so many times before and had called to double check, he didn't think there would be a problem. When he got there, they had no reservation for him in the system. They did get him a room, but he paid double the amount because the price had gone up (spring break). Wasn't a darn thing he could do about it.

No matter where in the world you stay, you should ALWAYS have your confirmation letter with you and you should ALWAYS call the hotel (or reservations system when dealing with Disney) 3-7 days prior to your stay to make sure they are showing every thing you asked for (dates, rate, special requests, etc). While an accident can still happen, you are being proactive to try and ensure every thing is correct. And, if you arrive and it isn't, well, you whip out the confirmation letter and show them every thing in writing and they have to change it accordingly. :)
