confirmation email?

Hello everyone!
I applied for the Spring program, and had my phone interview the next week on September 30th.
I think it went pretty well, and my interviewer said I would probably hear back within a week or two.
About 2 weeks later, I got the dreaded pending email, and I'm playing the waiting game.

Today though, I got an email asking to confirm my interest in the program.
I responded back right away (although they give you 3 days)
and if I didn't respond, they would take it as I am no longer interested.

I've never heard of this 'confirmation' email, and wondered if anyone else who has applied recently has gotten it as well?
I'm excited, because I hope that means they're still interested in me, but who knows.

To start, being told you are pending shouldn't be viewed negatively. You don't have a final answer and that may be frustrating, but it is an arguably better status to have than to be declined outright.

The pending status is nothing new. It has always existed. Everyone is told they will get an update on their status a few weeks after their interview and evidently this is interpreted as a yes or no. No one wants to acknowledge that they may be pended or waitlisted with a maybe. You can do searches on here for pending and see that this has been around.

What it appears that they are doing now is contacting the group of people who are pending to see if they still wish to be considered or if they want to remove themselves from consideration. This is new.

This is, in my opinion, a much better way to go about things. If you have a group of people who you are still considering, it is beneficial to the employer to know if they are still interested or if they have moved on with other plans. In the past, pending people were never asked and it is quite likely that some were offered who either were no longer interested in the program or had made other plans. This would have left others being declined who could have filled those spots.

December 19 is the latest that a pending person will get a final update. If Disney has a decision before that time, you are going to be informed. They do not sit and wait to inform someone. If they are making an offer, they need to know if it is going to be accepted or declined (and if so, offered to someone else).

I had seen things posted about the pending status,
but I wasn't sure about my confirmation email, because
I hadn't seen anything posted about it.

I got an email asking me to confirm my interest too. It came yesterday, but I didn't check my email till today (bad me). I confirmed too. It's all new to me as well. I guess they're just trying to cull the pendees so that they're left with the ones truly interested. That's good for people like us. I think it will give us a little bit more of a chance to get accepted.

We seem to be the only ones to have gotten confirmation e-mail on this board. It's strange, I would've expected more people to get them. I just checked the Facebook group, and so far I know of only four people who have gotten them (including me and you). One of the people who got the email got accepted about a week after, so that's a good sign.

Never fear...you are not the only ones who got the confirmation e-mail. My son got it too. The same day he got it a bunch of people on facebook were talking about having gotten it. Unfortunately, he hasn't heard anyting back yet, but until he get an official rejection, we're still hopeful.

Awhhh this lovely post just rekindled my burning desireto be accepted!
Not that I didn't want to before.. I just have lost a little hope.
But now, its BACK!

Thanks for posting. Glad to know I am not the only one still pending. I too received the email about 2/3 weeks ago, and replied immediately. I was searching the threads to see if anyone else had this experience. Thanks so much!!

Pending is seen as bad sometimes, but hey, its not being
rejected so I'm staying positive. I've read on here that some
people who are pended get accepted on the very last day even!

Well, I am STILL pending on the CP, however I did get accepted for a PI .. so who knows. Good luck *fingers crossed*

"Pending" does not necessarily mean "no"!!! My DS got the pending email Sept. 20 and just got accepted today! So the moral of the story is--Don't give up hope!! Pixie dust could still be coming your way!

Yep, I just got another one yesterday, too. You must have applied around the same time as me. Beginning/mid- September maybe? I really hope we hear back before the 19th. I have to accept or deny a scholarship by the 15th, so it's gonna be super close.
We're in the home stretch now!

I need to hear back before Dec. 8th though, because I register for
my next semester classes and pay for them then. I cannot get
my money back for the classes if I get accepted into the program
after that date :/
I'm just ready to hear back, I'm counting down til the 19th!
