Yesterday I went back and forth about AKL and WL for a long time. My DH asked what I wanted for Christmas (early shopper) and I started thinking about seeing the WL all decorated for the holiday. I think that WL was rated the best place to stay for the christmas holiday (I can imagine with that huge fireplace and all of the pine trees decorated). Then I started to think that if we stayed AKL this time and WL for christmas, that may be very nice. But...when I talked it over with my son he looked so down about it. I think he takes it personal each time I talk about changing as if his choice wasn't good enough. I can't do that to him . It's okay though, I do love what I know about WL. So I'll be there. I'm getting excited about it. I spent a bit of time on the thread looking at pictures and reading.

I like the theming at AKL better than any other resort hands down. I've always wanted to go on an African Safari. I like the Native American cultural feel of WL also, a very close second. I do know that the same designers desiged the two resorts and did a wonderful job on them both. The AKL has the warmer wood tones that I like (I love cherry cabinets in the kitchen vs. oak for example).

I have prayers and pixie dust for a great room with a great view, that will make all of the difference in the world to me. There are not as many options for room upgrades at WL there are at AKL because the resort is so much smaller. But I love the smaller thing. The pool view with bunks that you have is a $1000 upcharge at WL. While I want to guaranteed great view, we'll just wait and see. I think you will be upgraded to Savannah.

HELP!!! Ya'll I'm at it again. Ok, here's the breakdown. I REALLY love the theme at AKL and the pool just looks like pure paradise to me. But the construction somewhat concerns me. We were hoping to sleep in more this trip and I'm torn. Then I got to thinking just go over to allearsnet look at the pictures of WL and you'll see that you made the right decision. Well I looked at the WL pics and I love the newly refurbished rooms, the flat screen t.v., and the boat ride to MK. DH and I have talked about this and a customer of his had heard how bad the noise is at AKL.

For every good report of AKL there is a bad one too. I don't know what to do. DH and the girls are visiting his mom and I just called him and when he gets home we're going to take a look at the pics. What's a girl to do? I really know that I would stay at AKL hands down if the construction wasn't going on. But is that really a reason to change resorts?

It sounds like your heart is at AKL. Maybe someone will write in that has stayed there recently and can let you know how noisy it is. Maybe if you call the front desk at AKL, they can tell you the hours that the construction goes on. Also, it may be closer to one side of the resort than the other. Maybe you can request a room further away from the noise if you want to sleep in.

The only other thing to do might be to go with WL this time and next trip go to AKL after the construction is finished. I hope this helps.

Thank you. I just priced WL and the price for woodsview is around $100 cheaper than the pool view w/ bunks. I'm really a little torn because the boat ride to MK, the water parade (forgot what it's called), and the geyser is neat too. I can't wait for DH to get home and look at the pics.

We really planned on staying at AKL this trip and perhaps WL the next so we may have to reverse that. I can't believe I'm even entertaining the thought of this.

Ktink. Tisk Tisk Tisk...We will swap resorts mid-way through our stays, how about that .

I think if you let them know during check-in that the noise is a concern and you let them know that this is your first stay at the resort (I'm sure they want to make a great first impression) they will make sure to put you where the noise is not an issue. Don't go changin' . I'm looking forward to exchanging reports when we get back. Your reasons to stay out weigh the reasons to change resorts. Maybe back away from the posts for a moment and call the AKL directly for some reassurance.

We have a CV 4 years ago and this time I got a woodsview for Sept. I am thrilled, however, I have to tell you that after reading all of the posts about AKL and my DH best friend just buying DVC AKL. I am quite interested in staying their. DH will commit me if I even mention the thought of changing our resort. Last year I spend the whole trip pining over WL while we were staying at POFQ. I hope the same does not happen to me this year at WL. I know I love that place (WL). I hope we get a good view of MK.

BTW, I did love my CV with the electric water pageant every night. DH and I sat out with our cocktails after our DS1 (at the time) was sleeping.

Good luck with your decision after your DH comes home. I don't think there is a bad decision to be made except for the noise factor. Both resorts are beautiful.

stepdisney, Are you surprised? The grass is always greener on the other side. I just called a friend of mine who owns DVC at WL and of course she has a somewhat biased opinion.

Ok, so here's the deal.... DH came in and we looked at the pictures. I've never shown him the pics of WL because we tend to like more tropical or exotic settings. We looked at the exterior pics on allearsnet and it showed one of the pictures from the lake looking at the lodge. He said, "I don't need to see anymore, book it." He even liked the pool better. So after the intial shock wore off, because I thought AKL was his 1st choice. I called CRO , it's been awhile since I got my last fix.

Called CRO and by now they've had it w/ me. They know what's coming . And they only had woods view available. And I went ahead and changed. And when we go back in 2009 then we hope to stay at AKL.

I have WV too, when are you going? I heard it is a lot quieter then the CV. Keep checking back if you want to upgrade to CV. I have been checking just because I love the Disney website, and there seems to be rooms added maybe 1 every couple of days. Keep checking, I'm sure a CV will become available soon.

Leave it to the DH's to make up our minds for us. I went up to have dinner and mentioned that after reading all of the boards about AKL, maybe we should change. He just gave me the look.

Boy, do I know that look! We'll be checking in on 9/2 and leaving on 9/8. DH just told me a second ago that he was glad that we changed. He said it would be different than what we used to. We do go to MK the most so that's a plus and the boat ride just tops the cake.

I can't believe I've changed again. I can't do this anymore.

On our last trip, we had it narrowed to 2 resorts, AKL Deluxe Savannah or Poly. We ended up at AKL and stayed there.

The trip in 04, we started at AsMo, changed to POFQ, changed to WL, changed d/t financial issues back to POFQ, and then went back to WL.

For our next trip, I am not sure where we are staying. My mom will be joining us and it maybe her deciding vote that tips us one way or the other.

I don't think we are ever settled with our changes until we check in. At least for me, that is.
I told DH that I loved the Disboards because there was a whole world of people on there just as crazy as I am about making changes. I guess we all help each other.

I will be there Sept 12-18. I guess we will not be there at the same time.

Ktink, ..... No, really, I think you made a great choice. At least your DH supports change. Mine won't even consider it. This morning I dragged him into our bathroom and showed him the lake through the trees outside of our window and said that if we get a woods view it would look like this (beautiful by the way) but couldn't we request an inner CY view of the geiser and waterfall or pool. He said that we should keep the standard view and change when we got there if we didn't like what we got. (It does make sense now that I think about it). Just would be nice if he would let me change at least once.

stepdisney, I know, I can't believe I changed. I'm just in shock that DH liked WL better but at least he had an opinion. Normally when it comes to the resorts he just doesn't care. He's a simple man, I guess. We actually tried to book standard but they didn't have any so we went w/ the woods view. And ended up saving a little chunk of change too!

we are staying at the POP, this will be our 2nd time.

Now I need opinions! I want to know what the best resort you all think for a 2 year old and 5 year old?? We really enjoyed the POP, but im thinking the room will be a bit cramped.

* Also with a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old what are the best restaraunts, and character meals?? You all seem to know everything and I feel like I m not getting the most out of this lol

We really enjoyed our stay at Pop and w/ kids that age most of the time they enjoy the huge icons. I've never stayed at POFQ but if you're wanting a mod then that seems to be a good choice w/ younger kids. The pool has a sea serpent water slide and the resort is pretty small w/ a boat ride to DTD. If you're looking for a deluxe, don't ask me. lol Because I'd like to stay at them all.

As far as character meals.. We love Chef Mickey's! Good luck.
