We will be in WDW Aug. 9-16, 2008. This will be trip #8 for us, so we know the Disney drill as it relates to getting ADR WELL in advance.

We have done some of the fabulous dining experiences before such as...Cinderella's Castle, the Crystal Palace, etc. I didn't anticipate that we would have the appetite to repeat such experiences again. Thus, I failed to plan appropriately.

As a result, our "A" list options are obviously not on the table. Any ideas for character-based dining that perhaps we are overlooking? We have two daughters (19 and 16) and a son (10).
I think the oldest daughter, especially, is sort of reminiscing about her first trip when she was 11 and is hoping to recapture some of that early magic.

If you have any ideas, I'm all ears.

Thanks!

Have you tried 1900 Park Fair?

Have you actually tried for any of those reservations or are you assuming they're booked? I would keep calling and hoping for cancellations. If no luck, just remember characters meals are not the only place to "recapture the magic!"

cape may cafe @ the beach club seems to be lesser known.

i would try calling weekly - there are always cancellations to be had!

1900 Park Fare @ GF

Akerkus Princess @Norway pavilion EPCOT

Chef Mickey's @ Contemporary

Garden Grill @ The Land EPCOT

O'Hana Breakfast @ Poly

Why don't you make a list of some of places you want to eat and then also think outside the box. You do not say where you are staying but you might try some of the resorts for dinner. Your kids are older now so they might like a nice meal at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, or see if you can get into Cape May for the character breakfast. Some of the best magic happens when you are not trying to "relive" a previous trip but actually adding a new twist to the one you are on.

As others suggested, keep calling. I have gotten ADR"s that I want as close as the day before I left after several calls with no luck.

It is better to reminisce about the old times, that try to relive them and be disappointed. When she gets there, she may feel a little foolish surround by 6 year olds dressed in their princess costumes.

Though I love to go myself, most of my joy comes from seeing my children taking it all in. Maybe she should wait until she is a mother herself. Not to say its a stupid idea, just saying its a lot of $$ to pay for something the kids wont be "thrilled" about (and the food is never worth the price..you are paying to see the characters).

That being said, there is one place with characters that is more entertaining for older kids, adults...Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Every Thursday and Saturday at 6:30pm, Ft Wilderness.

What about the Princess Meal in Norway, Cape May Breakfast, CP any meal, Tusker House has character meals now....I would just call and keep checking
