I'm on the verge of packing. We will be flying into Orlando in 13 days and are staying at the Philadelphia Hilton the night before so I have to be packed in 12 days. I was laughing because my kids closets look like a store. They have tons of clothes with the tags still on that I "saved" for vacation and packages of new underwear and socks that they haven't been allowed to wear.

Am I crazy or do you do that too? I just know that if I let them wear them somebody would get something stained the first day. Luckily they have lots of clothes that aren't brand new to wear around the house.

My DH has never figured out why not only do we need new clothes for vacation but we also have to get underwear, socks, pajamas and shoes.

Oh phew! I thought I was the only one who did that! And (whispering) there are a few Disney shirts/costumes that, after our trip, get washed and put back in the suitcase for the next trip......

Hah! I used to do that too! Then someone told me that I was doing it backwards- especially with the underwear and socks! Leave the new ones at home and take the old ones. No one ever sees them anyway! When you are done with them throw them away- You create new room in your suitcase for the trip home! And you have your new undies waiting!

Guilty here. We usually let them wear a couple of things that usually get stained anyway. Two years ago we save these nice white shirts. The wife wanted them in the same thing going to MK. Well one Mickey ice cream later the shirts were shot. Oh well. I guess we want to look nice for Mouse, but when its 90+ degrees and your sweating bullets who cares.

:tilt: Ummm....that would be me! Although, I broke down and started wearing the new shorts I bought for myself because the pairs I *thought* I had from last summer to wear umm....didn't quite zip :rotfl:

However, I went and bought matching Disney shirts for the kids, some shirts for me, etc... I have them all folded and waiting to be packed (although I have found THREE of the shirts in the "to be folded" pile recently and have no clue how they got there because I thought I had all the special ones folded up and put away! The kids didn't get them because one of the shirts were MINE and I know I didn't wear it, so I must have missed them when I got all the other ones washed & put away).

I just went and bought the older boys new socks but I did break into the 5 year old's stash recently.

I'm dying to be able to put the shorts and things together with their tops to make up the outfits so I can pack them!!! It's too early for that yet (plus I still need to buy some more shorts for DD - she's hard to fit & find anything for!).

I think I've spent a ton of money buying a whole new wardrobe for this vacation. ;)

Yep Im guilty too :)
The kids know what they can and cant wear till Disney. Most of their clothes are packed and ready to go.

I am buying a few new DARK COLORED outfits..lol ...hopeing that they if my dd stains them, it won't show as badly. But, we will wait to have her wear them on vacation, we usually do this no matter where we are going. Never gotten new socks and panties for her for a vaca yet..but theres a first time for everything.

Have a fun trip! Lucky you...only 12 days to go!

Enjoy yourselves!!!!! :Pinkbounc

I bought a bunch of clothes from the Disney store and saved them for vacation! :cool1: Otherwise, how else can my 5 yr.old DD not stain a shirt unless I hide it?! :rotfl2:

I bought a couple cute Micket things but I have boxes put away with stuff for WDW. Hats, pins, clothes, glow bracelets, and stuff like that. My DH has no clue!

I used to do this for all of us, but have learned (at least for me) that it is better to have them washed/worn a couple of times beforehand. My DS is so picky about tags and other issues that it doesn't make sense to take something brand-new there just to have him refuse to wear it because it feels funny.

Plus I can't see the point of waiting and waiting to wear new socks, shoes, or underwear until vacation--what about the people who see you every day? To each their own, I just think life's too short at this point to hold off to wait until another day.

Have fun with your trip planning! :)

Having 3 girls in the house, trying to find enough pairs of socks for several days is a nightmare. I always go and buy a couple of new packs of socks, just so I don't have to try to find 21 pair here at the house that match. I swear, I don't know what happens to them all!

I'm guilty too! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes Not only will I not let my DD wear her new clothes before Disney, I have save some of my new clothes to be worn at Disney for the first time. I guess I just want to look good for the MOUSE! :earseek:

I did just buy a new princess swimsuit for my dd3 for Disney. My kids each have play cloths & then NOT play cloths. SO the NOT play cloths will be in fine shape by the end of August, if not, I will catch the end of summer sales to fill. Otherwise, I would go broke re-clothing everyone for vacations. How do you guys afford it? :confused3

Nope I didn't let them wear their new clothes till the trip. In fear of them ruining them before hand. I didn't wear mine either. LOL and ya know they didn't ruin them on the trip either. :)

Good to know I'm not the only nut out there. I have to buy new socks every year because 1/2 of all my kids socks "disappear". I pack the ziploc bag outfit thing and its just easier to pack new socks than to drive myself crazy looking for all the matches that have disappeared. Last year we went after the 4th of July so I was able to get really good deals on the kids clothes - not as good this year, but oh well. My kids are 7, 6 and turning 5 and within one hour someone will have something stained so that's why I have the kids wait. Why I have things in my closet with tags on for me just must be me flashing back to when I was a kid - my mom always kept outfits put away for vacation too!

I'm guilty! My friends call me nuts :cool1: :cool1: , we don't go untill the end of July, and I started buying and packing in April. Oh well If she don't stain them they can be back to school clothes!

We live in Minnesota and go in October. The kids are 5 and 6 (almost 6 and 7). There is no guarentee summer clothes worn for the first time in October will fit when we wear them next in May. So, no. Too frugal to risk the growth spurt. My kids are the ones in the clothes they've worn all summer.

I'll admit, I USED to do this. This year though, we just planned this "last minute" trip and since we'll be going right after school starts, I won't be buying new clothes for school AND Disney. My kids both have enough "Mickey-Wear" for the trip so they'll wear the old stuff this time around. I have to say, though, that I never bought new underwear and socks for the trip. Nobody sees those anyway. :rotfl:

My little obsession is to dress them in Disney themed clothing every day of the trip. I don't know if my 10y/o ds will go for that this year :rotfl2:

Guilty here too....and what's even worse is that I have actually gone out and bought matching stuff for all of us. We all have matching Donald Duck shirts, matching Old Navy Flag shirts, and a matching Aloha Print Disney set......I think that I might win the dork award.... :p :p :p

I confess....I am another one whoe won't even my new clothes until the trip. I bought my son (11 mos.) a few 18 mos.outfits two months ago but I don't think they will fit him anyway because he's just growing too quickly. I have his new clothes in a bag, but will have to try them on him just to make sure or else I am going to have to get new clothes again.
