Condo/resort rentals close to Disneyworld

Our family is just starting to look at condo type rentals close to Disney world for a possible 10-12 day stay next spring break in March. We have been to Orlando once before, 6 years ago, for our son's wish trip so we didn't need to look into accomodations etc. Can someone recommend or not recommend certain resort/condo rentals that are in close proximity to the parks? We are looking at taking some drives to beaches etc during our stay and would like a nice pool area for our son to play at. We want/need a full kitchen due to medical needs. I just don't know where to start........it seems like there are so many!

Both Cypress Pointe and the Sheraton Vistana resort are very close to downtown Disney in Lake Buena Vista. Both resorts do retail rentals. You might also want to look into doing an timeshare owner rental on a site like TUG2.net or Redweek.com. Usually these are just for a seven day period, though, but can save dollars above retail.

We LOVE having our own pool and spa but don't care a bit about a large community pool and playground, but you might. Do you want a game room? Laundry room important?
Are you doing this on a budget? Would it help to cook some of your own meals?
Are you driving or did you plan to rent a car?
Do you know your dates yet?

We will be 5, 2 adults and 3 kids between 12 and 17, our eldest who is 18 may fly down for a few days.
A private pool would not be of importance but a good pool for kids on site would be. Our youngest son has many disabilities so the colour and activity around a central pool he would like.
We will rent a van, have to to accomodate our sons wheelchair and medical equipment.
March 2011 and we are planning about a 12 day stay. We can't do this in a rushed way so want to be able to come and go at ease and stay at a pace our son can enjoy.
I have been trying to weed through rentals and there are SO MANY! I have been trying to include and exclude some with the help of trip advisor but thought this would be a good place to get some feedback.
We do need to be quite close to the parks. As, with our child, we will need to drive back and forth for mid day breaks etc. Yet, my normal active teens, would love to have some amenities to keep them busy in the down time on the resort property.
We also will be doing alot of our own meals and cooking etc so a full kitchen is a must. The condo/townhome option seems like a great thing to investigate.

just thought I would drop in on this post......I just wanted to tell yall about the Condo I have will be renting for the second time (last April and again next week)

I found it on a site where owners list their condo's for rent....all I can say is thaT I AM AMAZED!!!!!!!! Get this, me, my wife and our 6 year old son get a fully furnished and I mean FULLY furnished 3 bedroom 2 full bath condo(yea I know, 3 bed/2bath for 3 people...yea its over kill) for 425.00 for 7 nights!!!! Last year, which was our first year renting it, it was 450.00 for the entire week, when we made plans this year the lady told us that she would take 25.00 for being a repeat customer.....and 425.00 includes everything!!!! no jacked up or any other fees(maint/cleaning)!!!!!!

It's off of 192...only about 10 minutes or so from Disney...it has a great pool, tennis courts....plenty of restaurants nearby.....


and no, I don't own this condo, or do I even know the people that do, I have only communicated via email and paypal......

there are great deals to be had in that area, you just have to put in some keyboard time to find them....
