has anyone rented a condo for their trip, which one did you use, how far are they from disney?

what type of condo - one you are renting from an ower or real estate - also is it privacy own or is it part of a timeshare.

the ones in a timeshares are pretty close to WDW - they are in Kissimmee, LBV and Orlando (generally on or right off of International Blvd)

if you go with a timeshare - then try
www.skyauction.com

the timeshares are listed for 7 days (not 1-14days these are treated as hotels and have extra costs) - there is an automatic $195 charge plus a $15 processing fees - these are for 7 days period so if your trip is less look someplace else - in my opinion right now Orange Lake and Sheraton's Vistana even the prices on skyauction for these resorts is pretty bad - but that is my opinion - they are still much less than renting from the resort - always check that first - make sure that renting directly from the resort won't be less money. much to my surprise - Hilton Grand Vacation Club is still a fairly good deal.

All of these are nice condos - the Sheraton is the closest to WDW.
HGVC is close to SW.

OL is not close to anything - but it has so much to do that it you don't need to leave to feel you had a great vacation.

Now if you want to rent from an owner - someone has a website for those.

real estate
www.floridakiss.com
is the visitor convention center - send off for their vacation planning kit - it is a magazine - inside is several maps - one is where the attractions are (even in Orlando) - one is where there local hotels/condo are located -

We stayed in a 3-bedroom condo at Windsor Palms in November. We found it at:
http://www.windsor-palms-resort.com/

We paid $90/nite. It was very nice and the complex is also quite nice. That said, however, we could have gotten a 3-bedroom house for probably $100/nite and had our own pool. I think I would rather go that route. For one thing, you get more space. You get the pool which is certainly worth $10/nite. And you get privacy and quiet which you don't necessarily get with the condo. The other problem with the condo was it was on the 2nd floor, no elevator, and could have been on the 3rd floor. Much nicer to be on ground level, especially when you first arrive and check-out and have to haul all the luggage.

 I go every year in Feb and rent TS. They are great and cheap. See my reply post to WESTGATE VILLAS

I rented this one twice now www.orlando-rental-home.com It's fab, I loved Emerald Island, we have a villa booked for our next trip though at Windsor Palms.

Emerald Island is no more than 5 minutes from Animal Kingdom.

It seems that every year we stay at another one... Those off 192 are very convenient if they're close to I-4. We've always had 2 bedrooms, except one year when we had 3 at Clarion Resort World. That was a LLLLOOONNNGGGG time ago, and I think they've changed their name to Celebrity Resort. About 10 minutes away, but again it's been a while since we stayed there so don't know its condition now.

Last year we did Celebration Resort. Very close to the Maingate. Nice, quiet place, with nice staff.

The year before was Runaway Bay at Calypso Cay. That was MAYBE a 15 minute drive, still not a bad distance with so many things to do and places to eat along the way to the Maingate. (Would not recommend Runaway Bay Apartments, but if you can get into one of the timeshare condos, they are lovely, but small compared to Wyndham.)

In 2001, it was Wyndham Palms and CC. (They're across the road from Celebration.) No one can find anything bad at that place.

We've done Westgate Lakes which is close to Universal, but far from Disney.

Have not had opportunity yet to use International Drive resorts so can't compare distances for them.
