Condo rental

This will be my first time renting an offsite condo. How does it work? Do you pay by check? I understand that there is usually a fee associate with credit card payment.

Are you renting direct form an owner?
Then yes, there is usually the PayPal fee to use a credit card (if paypal is what they're using) Most people feel more comfortable paying that little bit extra for the peace of mind.

We usually pay by money order to the owner, and that's worked out fine for us.
Usually a $250 deposit, with the balance and security fee due anywhere from a month to 2months before check in.

Each owner or managment company will have different policies...some require 10%, other's a one night stay deposit..sometimes the security fee is additional on top of the rental costs...I'm sure there are as many combinations of things as there are owners

If you are booking with owner,they usually ask for $150 per week deposit ,to secure dates
If you pay by credit card,there is not a fee for you,but there is for the villa owner.So they may ask for total pay to avoid two charges
Final balance due 10 weeks before arrival date - plus $300 refundable security deposit is the norm

Most owners accept US cheque or wiring money into their US accounts.
