Condo Association Meeting - Moonlight Magic

They offer it to the family and friends, I guess to have more opportunity to sell the product.

Basically, the member was complaining that people traveling with a member get to come.

So if you are in a 2BR with your two kids (not technically members) and bring your sister, brother, and their 1 kid (not members) you can bring all of them into MM. You, the member,, have to book and be present. But you don't have to say toodaloooo to your travel party.

The person asking the question/complaining would have it that only the cardholder for the DVC could have a MM ticket and not others they have in their unit.

Ya, no moonlight magic for your guests and your children not on the deed. That is ridiculous. Of course people on your reservation should be allowed in. I understand it allows fewer actual members in. Most members cannot go, because there are only a handful of days they have them. There are some members who go to all of them. Maybe DVC should restrict to one event per year.

Besides, DVC is marketed as a way to share the magic of Disney with family and froends. To exclude other people in your traveling party would be ridiculous.

I've been reading up on the Condo Assoc. meeting that was held on Dec 8th 2022. Based on what DVC News posted it seems like Moonlight Magic was offered to non-members. I thought MLM was only made available to DVC Members? Would anyone have some insight on this?

No, Moonlight Magic is still only available to direct owners only (or grandfathered resale). As stated above, the big “stink“ was how many non-members are allowed to accompany members to the event, based on resort reservation. The only way non-members can attend is if they are on the reservation of a qualifying member and accompany that member.

Lol I’m glad that person doesn’t run DVC!
We took our friends staying with us in our RR 2BR to Typhoon Lagoon MM, and now they’re seriously considering buying direct. Imagine that.

I don't know if the questioner was upset that members are allowed to bring guests or if they assumed that non-member social media influencers are being invited by Disney / DVC. But many social media personalities are either members themselves or they can easily snag a ticket from a member who is staying on-property.

I have zero issue with everybody who is actually staying in the room going to these events. My complaint comes when certain people (bloggers in particular) are added to resort reservations but aren’t actually staying in the room. That to me is wrong.

I don't necessarily disagree but it's impossible to police.

Oh, I know it would be impossible. We had an issue w/one last summer who was the MM @ HS and took about 15 minutes taking pictures w/chewy and r2d2 and then ended up staying next to us at VGF2 and was super loud and blocking hallways so she could film. Just sticks out in my mind.

Well that’s pretty obnoxious.

That makes more sense.

Agree with everyones comments. Members should be permitted to bring their guests who are travelling with them.

Kind of like the "social media influencers" that want food and products for free just because they supposedly are "influencers." Sadly, there will always be some of them that feel entitled and are obnoxious. But there are also some of them that ARE DVC members and may be attending by virtue of their own reservations...really not any way to control that. There are nice, respectful bloggers, and then there are "those."

I find no issues with bringing your family we are members my kids all under 16 obviously can’t be members before 18 why shouldn’t they attend with me.
