I just called to upgrade to concierge. However, I was told it would be an extra $200/night. What!!!! I am staying at Disneyland Hotel. There is no way we( 2A 3C) would use $200 of concierge. We plan on being at the park as soon as the rope drops and till it closes. Can anyone tell me if I am missing out? I will book it if it's worth it!

Yes, $200 a night at the DLH, and $250 for GCH. The lounge is open 630am-10pm. We get an automatic upgrade to concierge each trip through my work. If *I* had to pay for it, I wouldn't. I know a lot of people who say it is worth it. While I do enjoy it, I don't think it is worth it.

If you're not planning to use any of the concierge services (because you'll be busy touring the park), then I don't think you'll be missing out at all!

It's not worth it if you won't use it, even at $50 a night. We always do concierge, but we also use the lounge and eat the food. We are not Rope Drop to Closing kind of folks. We take afternoon breaks, swim, etc. We also stay in a suite with 6 - 8 people. Concierge is charged per room, not by number of occupants, so we pay the same for the 8 of us as a couple would pay for.just the two of them. Additionally, we travel with 20 somethings, who like to eat (my daughter's boyfriend loved the lounge and instant access to food and drinks all day long). We also borrow our two movies a day and get 16 water bottles once or twice a day. Again, for us, it's totally worth it, bu that's just us.

We got concierge one time (only cuz my parents paid for it). It was wonderful. I loved being able to pop in for a snack and the CMs there were great. However, if I have to pay $200 a night extra there is no way I would pay for that. Yes, it is nice and convenient, but not at that price. $200 is a lot of food/snacks a day I can get in the park, especially when the lounge doesn't open early enough to hit rope drop. I don't think you will miss anything if you don't do it.

I don't think it will be worth it because you can eat and snack in the parks with the extra $200, and the food will be better, and you can pick what you want. Think of all the stuff you can buy at Pooh's Corner, or the Fruit Stands or Holly Jolly Bakery for that! ;)

Wow automatic upgrade to concierge! You lucky duck, how can I get a job where you work?!?!

I agree. When it's just us, we won't to do it and don't find the value worth it. However when we travel with family and there are 8-12 of us in a suite for the $200, the price per person makes it more worth it. And my parents spend a lot of time in the lounge. It honestly comes down if you'll take advantage of the offerings. Our last trip, we ate one big meal mid-afternoon and used the hot offerings and snacks as dinner - but that meant we went back to the hotel every evening. Since we've been able to go to the parks a lot, it wasn't that big a deal, but I can see how one wouldn't want to waste precious park time if you don't go very often.

Count me in on the agreement that it is worth it -- if you have a large group that is. There are 9 of us (another reason the suite works great) and the amount of water and pop we drink alone (not wine drinkers) at disneyland prices pays for the services. We usually grab breakfast on the way out because we are "early birders" and then by the time we come back for afternoon rest they have snacks out. With three growing boys, they have always ate more than enough to cover the cost, and then we don't end up paying as much on other meals or snacks!! The one time we stayed at the Grand I brough our own stuff to try and cut costs, I didn't care for doing it that way, the room always felt like there was food and pop everywhere so I LOVE going to the lounge, snacking and then going back to our wonderful room for a rest! Can't wait for out New Year's eve trip :santa:

with 3 kids I love staying concierge at WDW - it is so much easier to get them to the lounge in the AM for a bagel and some yogurt then having to deal with eating on the run or having a sit down breakfast. If you'll do breakfast, will be back for a snack and grab some water - in Mickey math - it will totally be worth it.
NOW - I am not doing concierge for our trip to DLR. Because its is a delta of $300 at GCH the few days we are there. If it was $200 - I would have! $300 was too high!

We are having the same discussion at our house. It's just going to be my hubby and my four-year-old this trip and we can't decide if we want to upgrade to concierge or not. Right now we are planning to stay at the Grand Californian, and I keep changing my mind about concierge. I'm just not sure how much will use it other than our first night there and for breakfast every day. We are going in September, so the Parks will likely close early enough for us to spend an hour in the evenings, but I don't know if we will be able to get by there in the middle of the day or not. It's a hard decision

I've only done it at the Poly at WDW, but I think it's pretty tough to consider concierge/club level being "worth it" if you are only considering cost value. Unless you have the big party like other have said, it's hard to get $200 out of it.

BUT I do think it is worth it if you want some special treatment and perks. We felt like we got the star treatment. I do think it is definitely worth going back for some afternoon snacks (esp. if you are at DLH....it's not far) and a break there if you are paying for it..you won't lose a lot of time. And the view from the lounge there is quite nice.

If you haven't already seen it, there's a thread on here about the food/lounges that you can peruse to see if you think it's worth it.

Thanks for the replies. Right now, I feel we can do a lot more with $200 in the park then with concierge. Though I wouldn't turn down any pixie dust at the front desk!!!!!

Three things. First, be sure that you're comparing like rooms for that extra $200/night. Often, concierge rooms are in better locations and views than standard, so that can account for some of the extra cost. You may be moving to a view room from a standard.

Second, you have 5 people in your party. Don't underestimate the savings involved with having "free" food, snacks, and beverages, plus a lounge to relax in. The cost of those in the parks is very steep! Water alone is quite expensive (unless you use the free water). $40/day per person seems like a lot, but it adds up very quickly. When we do concierge, we make lunches out of the bagels, cheese, cold cuts, and fruit. There are Uncrustables and desserts and so on.

Third, if you're staying at DLH, it's very convenient and nice to go back to the hotel on the monorail and take breaks. The lounge has a nice espresso/cappucino machine, a snack time with homemade chips and salsa, desserts, beer, wine, and liqueurs all day, etc etc. There is an evening hot appetizer and honestly, you can feed your family quite well on the offerings in the lounge. You may normally stay in the parks all day until closing, but when you have the lounge available, you might find it a nice change to take breaks.

I love being able to get up and head straight to the lounge for my coffee and breakfast before heading to the parks.

It's still a stretch to say it's worth it if you're only figuring it in dollar value, but we love it when we can swing it and find it worthwhile for our family of 5.

ETA: Did I mention you get all the free beer/wine you want? :D

We have stayed concierge at PPH ad the Grand several times. We loved it! I will be headed to DLH with my two girls for a convention at the end of this month. I am getting convention rate for DLH. Does anyone know if I can upgrade to concierge and the price?

Generally, if you can add concierge, it is around $200 per night. I don't know if you will lose the convention rate if you upgrade though.

Thank you, the convention rate is very good $179/ night. I guess we will have to "rough it". Lol! $200 is a lot of turkey legs and Starbucks for my two girls!

Just spent a week at DLH with concierge. SO NOT WORTH $200 and it was actually free for us. That's about the only level that I think it would have been worth it. The CM's were horrible - rarely looked up from their computers when we walked in. The food was great the first day or two but then it was the same.ole.thing. Got so tired of it we went to Target and bought groceries for $150 that lasted all week when we wanted a snack, soda, cereal, poptarts, etc. so my advice is...if you have a fridge skip the Concierge, get foods you like to get for vacation breakfast and snacks, and spend the rest of the money not feeling guilty about enjoying some good meals. (There were 5 of us by the way.)

I love concierge, but I agree that a week with it would be too much. I never go to DL for longer than 4 days, and that's pushing the limit on enjoying the lounge food. It does get old. They change up a few things but most are the same every day. Have to say that GCH has far better concierge food than DLH, too. However, my experience with the CMs was far different--they were amazing. I loved popping in for waters and snacks and they even fixed us up a little bag of items to take with us. My family likes the fresh fruit and veggies, cheese, bagels and deli offerings. I would NEVER EVER prefer ordering groceries and having my family eat in the room.

If you are staying longer than 3-4 days and want to do concierge, try only adding it on your last nights, not the entire stay.

For us, the PPH concierge has the "best food", followed by DLH, then finally GCH. Also, the staff for us at the GCH concierge were rarely available to assist. Whereas staff at the DLH and PPH have always been over the top helpful.
