concierge???

I have a questions regarding concierge services at WDW.

At other resorts that I have stayed at , they have concierge services available to everyone in the hotel- at no extra charge. I think even the Courtyard at DD has this.

We stayed at the Ft Lauderdale Marriott Marina over Christmas and there was a concierge desk in the lobby that was always staffed. They were helping all guests with reservations and such.

Is the difference at WDW mainly the food offerings and separate check-in?

My first concierge stay is almost six months away, so I am no expert.

I think you get a MUCH more personalized approach to PSs and scheduling. I don't think a non-concierge resort guest can use the consierge staff for making PSs or scheduling anything.

You also get a pre-trip questionere, I haven't seen one of these yet, but I guess it has quite a bit on it. Obviously, there isn't really going to be anything there that you couldn't schedule yourself, all the times for all shows, even the street performers and fountain shows are available, but they can help you with those kinds of things also.

The food aint a bad idea either, but I think that the concierge loungs almost makes for a living room, it almost makes you room a suite with a seperate living room, granted, its a shared living room and you may have to fight a six year old to watch ER, but it does give this feeling....at least, I expect it to.

Yes full service hotels have a concierge desk, but they also often have a club level: a special floor that can only be accessed with a room key where there are better rooms, a higher level of service, free food, and higher rates! Concierge at Disney deluxe resorts is like that.

At all Disney resorts all guest have access to Gst Svc CMs who are glad to help with info and PSs. They can usually be found at the front desk and are pretty much Concierge for all guest. Sorry no food unless you are staying on the Concierge level.

Okay, I guess it is a matter of what a specific resort wants to call its services. What one hotel calls concierge, another may call guest services and some may use different terms, such as"club level" to distinguish a more personalized service.
