so i just made a reservation at kidani, but the problem is i wanted concierge.....but i wanted a savannah view more. *Its only two of us, so i wanted a studio* why dont most of the concierge rooms have savannah? i was told only three or four would and there were 21 something rooms concierge total. so i decided not to go with it since i would be waitlisted and not garunteed a savannah view. still, i wish i could have had the conceirge.............
Studio is not optional. though the first two replies deny the few numbers, this is what i was told by disney. . . i will call again in the morning. . . .
has anyone had it/liked it/which is more magical? concierge or savannah view? did i make the wrong decision? whats included with concierge? (have read online but would like someone who has had concierge explain the "magic " in the conceirge choice...

(2 adults planning on only going to epcot one day, and chilling/romantically spending in the resort the rest :))

That's not correct. There are 5 two bedroom lockoffs in concierge for DVC, 3 are savannah view and 2 are pool view. Those rooms are the only rooms on the 6th floor, along with the lounge. I believe all of the AKL non-DVC concierge are savannah view, they are on the 4th floor.

There are only 5 2-bedroom lock-offs that make up the DVC portion of the Concierge Level rooms at Jambo House. Three of those 2-bedrooms face the Sunset Savanna and the other two face the Uzima Pool. The map in the link below shows the 5th floor rooms at Jambo House. The Concierge Level will be on the 6th floor directly above those numbered 5202-5209 & 5401-5406.

I really wish there were a few more Concierge level rooms available - like a Grand Villa, 3 more 2BR lockoffs, and a few studios for short stays, that don't limit the availability of 2BR's.

The fact that some of the regular villas are in the FAR reaches of the resort is absurd - the one time we have stayed at AKV - Jambo our room was the 2nd room in the very last building on the left side of the resort - it was a studio that was part of a 2BR Lockoff. The walk to the parking lot was ridiculous! It took 25 minutes! :headache:

But I really do wish there were more concierge rooms available!

I've had a concierge stay at AKV 4 times. Twice we had a pool view, same room, but it was more a roof view, and twice the savannah view and these were much much nicer. Maybe they should have two levels of points for concierge, I think there really is a difference in the quality of the stay. You both pay the same, but for different experiences.

IMO the DVC Concierge rooms were rooms that the regular resorts Guests would not put up with. All of the rooms views are below par and 2 of the Savanna view rooms are HC rooms so Disney can meet their ADA requirements.

DH and I have stayed at AKV concierge twice in studios and we have had the exact opposite experience. Last year we were in a lovely pool view room and although I was initially upset it was not savannah view the view of the pool was great especially on foggy mornings it looked awesome. This year we had a savannah view room that was mostly roof view with an awning obscuring a lot of the view I would much rather a pool view in the future even though I loved seeing the few animals that I did. I do not think that they should have two levels for these rooms it is luck of the draw with what view you get and sometimes it will be great and other times not so much, no big deal.

If savanna view is more important to you, you did the right thing booking it. Personally, I LOVE savanna view and will pick it every time. We stayed concierge one night just to do the Sunrise Safari the next day. It didn't impress me much though I know others love it. We won't do it again. It's savanna all the way! (Well, except when we want to conserve points and do the value rooms which I've also fallen in love with.)

We just stayed in a CL studio the week after thanksgiving. We loved it. We did have a pool view, but that didn't bother us. We were unfortunately the first room net the elevators. It was only unfortunate because the ice maker was on the other side of our beds wall. Other then that we loved it. It was great being able to get the kids some juice when we needed, and sodas for us. We loved the snacks, enjoyed the turn down service, etc. my DH and I agreed we'll do it again, but as an adults only trip so we can enjoy it a little more.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either pick :).

While I enjoy concierge stays for the special tours and perks, I must say I LOVED our savanna view rooms best. I'm not so keen on the location of those few CL rooms, and I think they gave DVC the dregs of CL just to get us to help fund the lounge. We've stayed CL 3 times. I doubt I have much interest in doing it again. I'd much rather have a 2nd floor Kidani savanna view room!

We were just there in October, staying in AKV (Jambo House) for the first time. We wanted concierge but it was unavailable so we went with Savanna. It was AMAZING!!!! There were giraffe's so close and when we talked they would wag their tail just like a dog when they get excited. LOVED sitting out on the balcony sipping a beverage. It is now our #1 resort. We liked it way better than BCV and better than BWV. We went to Kidani and visited the pool bar. We really enjoyed it there.

Have fun. You will have a blast!

One of the advantages of the DVC rooms is they are on the same floor as the lounge. I've read complaints from people staying in regular rooms that they have to go to another floor for the lounge. So it's view vs convenience.

DW and I are gong in May and I was conflicted between savannah view or CL. We decided to go with the 100% sure savannah view. I agree with above post for CL. There should be two seperate room types for DVC, though AKL's points is already pretty messy.

We have done both and usually do a savanna view because of the points. But for our anniversary last year we booked a studio on CL and really enjoyed it. We had pool view and were the first room after the elevators but never had any noise to speak of. It made it very close to the lounge and we would go get a drink or a snack and bring it back to the room. We plan to save CL for special occasions, but otherwise it is a studio with a savanna view. Although we were there in December and had a 1 bedroom in Kidani and it was wonderful. My sister and niece stayed with us and we had plenty of room for 4 adults...and DH and I love the extra bathroom with the whirlpool tub.

The rooms on the sixth floor were the old smoking rooms at Jambo House when smoking was still allowed. You weren't permitted to smoke on your balcony because of the animals, so you didn't need a good view. Just be able to get the goodies in the lounge and smoke when you wanted to.
