concierge upgrade at GF?

Has anyone ever been upgraded at check-in to concierge at the GF?

While checking in to GF Lagoon View (rack rate paid) in April, we (my mom and I) were telling the clerk about our horrible experience the night before at Port Orleans -Riverside. (We had a very dirty room, had to change rooms, then it was smoky, very hateful manager and then were finally just transferred over to CB -which was great). He was very upset about us being checked into a dirty room and had to stay up till 2:30 after working all day and then driving 7 hours to WDW. He told us to hold on, he went into the back, and then said, "Good News, I am going to make it up to you so you have a wonderful trip". He gave us the choice of switching to the Sugar Loaf Conceirge or keeping our Lagoon room. Of course, we switched to Sugar Loaf Concerige. Except when he took us over to our room, it was a handicapped room. I could not stay in that room due to the bathroom set up, so the conceirge desk moved us over to a regular room with the dormer. It was nice and we enjoyed the food at the lobby, I don't think I would have paid for it. Now, we love the Polynesian Conceirge and will be staying there for the 2nd time next month. But, the GF was good, just not like the Poly. But, anyway, it was nice of the hotel clerk at GF to upgrade us for free. Now, I am a AP holder and have been to Disney World many times in the last 4 years and have stayed at every hotel. This has never happened to us. I think it only did because I had to pay rack rate due to no avail. with the AP rate in April. Hope this helps...

dismom3- We were upgraded at GF for our very first visit in Sept. of 99. We had requested a Garden View room and when we arrived we were upgraded to Sugar Loaf- which is the Lodge Concierge. Sept.was so empty when we went, the longest line was like 10 minutes. I think they upgrade people who have never done concierge-that's how they suck you in and you never want to go non-concierge.
