Concierge Question-- AKL

We just added another nite onto our Disney trip next week and got the Animal Kingdom Lodge for one nite, which we are very excited about. I've read on some threads how some people get upgraded to conierge and i'm wondering when we go to check in, is it looked down upon to ask for an upgrade if available or do the CM's just ask u if u want to if a room is available?

What level room are you booked in now? You have heard of people being upgraged free of charge to a concierge level room? If people have been upgraded for free they are just amazingly lucky. I would say that you could ask when checking in what the cost would be to upgrade to a concierge room and if they are not that full they might offer you a discount but I would not count on that.

That would be a huge upgrade for them to give you for free. If the place is not fullly booked you might have a shot at them upgrading you for free to a standard savanna view room. People have reported that happening when the resort is not full.

Our experiance is that the two times we booked standard pool view rooms that is what we received and we enjoyed both very much. We have stayed concierge level twice and have great rooms on the 5th floor over looking the Arusha Savanna. We got a great rate of $277 a night inc tax with an AP discount. Our most recent stay was this past Jan and we booked and received a regular savanna view room over looking the Uzima Savanna and we enjoyed this room very much. Other then the internet connection issues everything was great.

I would say go expecting to be put in a pool view room and see what happens.

Are yous tandard view or pool view? They are two different things at the AKL.

Either way, the chance of a free upgrade to CL is slim at best.

When you hcekc in, ask if there are any upgrades available. one of three things will happen. You will be told no. You will be given an upgrade (more likely from your view to the next level, which would be pool or savannah, depending on which you actually have now. Or you will be offered an upgrade for a fee.

If you want to upgrade to CL, ask what it would cost and then decide.

Keep in mind that the AKL CL operates at or close to capacity a good deal of the time.

Kristin, it's not looked down upon to ask for an upgrade. It quite possibly would not be a complimentary upgrade however. Yep, sometimes a guest will get some major pixie dust and for no reason, a room assignor will have upgraded them to concierge for free. Doesn't happen alot, but it does happen. The most common complimentary upgrade does seem to be view. There's no harm in asking what's available when you check-in. The CM will let you know your options and if there is a charge, you can decide whether or not to take it, or keep what you have.

Does anyone know if Saratoga Springs has a Concierge Level?

No, Saratoga Springs is considered a DVC resort ~ no concierge level there, but a nice spa.
