We usually stay in a concierge room at the Polynesian Resort in WDW. What is the concierge experience like at the Grand California Hotel. Or are the Theme Park views as "awesome" as they look on the Disneyland Web site.

My DH and I stayed at the DGC earlier this month for our anniversary. We didn't get a Concierge package, so I can't address that, we DID stay on the Concierge floor with a Theme Park View, which is the sixth floor (the top floor). We were very fortunate. The room was really nice and looked to be an upgrade from other rooms I've seen on their website.

When you make a reservation, you can put in a request for your preference on a Theme Park View, but it's not guaranteed. There are three views, I believe. One is the view of the Grizzly Bear, which is a "rock" formation. Another is a view of the section housing "Soarin' over California" and the last, which I think is the best of the three is a view of Paradise Pier. Others have said that they like the Grizzly Bear view, though. We requested the view of the pier and got it when we checked in. The view is awesome and is especially pretty in the evening. You'll also be able to hear the sounds (not really see it, though) of the Electrical Parade when it snakes through the park. It's also quieter at night after DCA closes.

Oh yeah, another thing. If you decide not to do Concierge, try to get a Theme Park View Room located located on the upper most floors. You'll get a better view of the park (no obstructions).

Hope that helps and have a great time!

We just got back from DL and had 2 rooms on the 3rd floor, Theme Park view. It was fabulous!!! We faced Grizzley Peak and the monrail went right past our rooms. Because we were on the 3rd floor we were pretty much eye level with the monrail. It was wonderful.

I stayed at the GC on the 3rd floor with a downtown Disney view. What I really liked about it, was if I was in my room, we could see the fireworks every night!! :cool1:

I've stayed at the GC with the Paradise Pier view and it was AWSOME. We were on the 5th floor and I think our room number ened in 15. It's also right by the 'patio' on the fifth floor, which was nice for morning tea (the patio overlooks the pool area). I've also done concierge twice and thought it was worth it when there were four of us, but not with just two.

I've been a little bit cranky about how difficult it has been this year to get good rates, but I guess that was to be expeced with the 50th celebration ::yes::
