I'm home from my WDW honeymoon and wanted to share my concierge thoughts will the boards.

We recently returned from the GF RPC Concierge and were highly disapointed with the concierge staff. Not only was the staff very rude and unhelpful, the hallway to our room smelled of dirty clothes (for 3 out of the 4 days we were there), the elevator broke on several occasions and we had to take the service elevator and emergencey exit stairs. We were never given notice that the elevator was broke and we recieved many snide comments from the concierge staff.
The lounge was nice and the food offerings were good and our room was smaller than the room we had at the Polynesian. We paid alot of money to stay in the concierge honeymoon room and were very very disapointed.

On the other hand, after we left the GF we checked into the YC Concierge and it was wonderful!!!! The staff was great, especially Teresa- who was always helpful and very friendly. The food offerings were better at the YC than the GF and we will definitly stay at the YC Concierge again. It was worth every penny. and we had a great lagoon view of the Boardwalk and Crescent lake!

Has anyone ever had this problem at the GF RPC Concierge?? If so, did you ever write a complaint letter to the concierge manager? or call to complain? Just curious to see what kind of response you recieved.

Thanks again to all on the boards for helping me plan another wonderful trip to WDW and this one was my honeymoon!! :)

Hi Renee,
Sorry about your disappointing stay at GF, especially since it was your honeymoon. But I'm delighted that you enjoyed YC! We're staying YC concierge next month, and I'm so excited!! Just wondering...what sort of food was served? Thanks for any info.

At the Yacht Club:
Breakfast: Bagels/Bread/English Muffins, Assortment of danish and muffins. Fresh fruit, donuts, fruit breads, coffee, water, soda, cereals, and munchkins.

Afternoon: Fruit cheese, wonderful and yummy cookies, uncrustables, pita breads, with various dips, fresh fruit and vegetables. As well as some kind of hot meat dish. Popcorn, fish crackers and brownies.

Evening: Mini assorted pastries, brownies, cheesecake, cookies, cupcakes, brandies, wines, teas, coffee, etc.

I'm sure there was more, but this is all I can remember, it was plenty for the 2 of us. We basically at in the lounge for breakfast every morning! It saved alot of money... and time..

It was lovely and you will surely enjoy it!!

Great review of the yacht club - thanx.

I have heard complaints about GF concierge at the RPC, how odd for the Disney flagship resort.

Congrats on your wedding!

Hello Rennee,
So sad to hear about your disappointing experience with the GF Concierge. We have stayed at the GF on several occasions,Lagoon view and had good experiences most of the times, but there were a few times with the Room Service that were not to pleasent with CM.Congratulations on your Marriage!!!!!
We will be staying first time Concierge at YC,Lagoon view when we go Dec. and I was very pleased to hear your good report on that part of your trip.If I may ask what was your room number, and was it a convenient location, but quiet?I also must have a No Smoking room for Medical reasons and was wondering if there was any problems with Smoke from Smokers on the Balcony areas?
This is my first time posting on these Boards and I apologize if I have made any mistakes,But I know one thing from all my time I have spent viewing these Boards is that there are alot of wonderful people who come here and everyone is so very helpful,so a Big Thank You Rennee and everyone else!!!!!!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Sorry to hear Renee. Regretfully this seems to be the norm rather than the rare with the GF concierge.

Yes, I've had problems with GF RPC and I'd NEVER stay there again. I also felt they were arogant and really didn't care about the "average" RPC guest.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. You don't expect that at Disney...it ruins the Magic.

I haven't stayed at GF, but the concierge at the Polynesian has always been a great experience for us. If you get the chance to try it again, do it...just at another hotel.

Besides the Polyesian, I've read good things about AKL and Contemporary.

rude service is never acceptable, neither is dirty clothes in the hallway. However if the smell was actually from guests with body odor that is really something Disney can not control. I don't think it would go over well to place info in the room suggesting all guest wash often and use deodorant. However during the summer I sure wish they did.:)

Room sizes also can not be changed and I guess is just something you learn when you get there. All rooms at Disney except for the Contemporary are smaller than the Polynesian unless you get a suite.

I would definitely write a letter to guest services with the complaints that could be improved.

Glad you enjoyed the Yacht Club.

Vicki: I hope I can answer some of your questions;
YACHT CLUB: Room Number: 5179
2 double beds and beautiful view of the lagoon
Non-smoking and we didn't smell any smoke from other balconies, although not sure if people were smoking next to us!
The room location was around the corner from the concierge lounge and we were close to the elevator. The hallway was not loud at all.

Again, it was so fabulous- we will be staying there again. Have a great trip!!!! .. and I hope I answered all of your questions... :)

Thank You Renee!!!!! I am so looking forward to this new experience with Concierge, and you made me so Happy to hear your positive feedback!!!!

I'm thrilled to read of your experiences at YC Conc. too!!!

We'll be there 9/1. Our first stay at YC and first stay at Concierge. Looks like we may have picked a winner.

I'll have to write down your room number! We want/need close to the elevator because of my mother (70) who is having some mobility problems.

Did you have a view of EPCOT? That would be just perfect.

Now I'm even more excited :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks, >>^..^<<. I've seen the floor plans before. Practically sleep with them under my pillow!

Looked them up again w/your handy link and it looks like 5179 is a SUITE???

ReneeDisney, did your room seem oversize? I think I had read on the YC/BC Forum that this was a really great room. Was there a daybed? Was there full Balcony?

Thanks for everyone's help!

Sharon

LOL.. you sleep with the plans under your pillow - that is funny.

I noticed that suite too... but it just looks like a regular sized room - whats up with that?

Sorry to hear about your experience at the GF RPC. I've read a lot of negative posts about it. I'm glad to read you enjoyed your stay at the YC and congratulations on your marriage!

Hi there! It was a regular sized room. with 2 queen beds a desk, a lounge chair and ottoman. No day bed, and a full balcony which overlooked crescent lake. we could see right to the lighthouse and the boardwalk. it was absolutely lovely. Renee

ReneeDisney, thanks for posting your stay at the YC. We will doing YC concierge in December. We are very much looking forward to it.

Any tips/suggestions we should keep in mind?

Thanks!

WA
