Concierge collections hotels dropped!

What has happened here? The Grand in Mackinac Island and the American Club in Milwaukee are both dropped!! Why? I am sure there are more but these are 2 that we USE!!!

The contracts are negotiated every year or so. Anything could have happened that the parties couldn't reach agreement. Maybe pricing or internal billing procedures and wait times, or maybe there just weren't enouh members using those options. Who knows?

Around half were dropped. All we can do is speculate as to why, my feeling is contracts and costs related to the number of points needed to generate the cash being too high.

I know very disappointing!!!! My mother is still so depressed from her lack of The Grand this year. My parents have been every year since buying their points. I guess DH and I will have to save up to send them.

I was told that Disney wants to forge a tighter relationship with Resorts International (?) and that is why these are being dropped. We were at the Grand last week and the manager said they have never had more complaints from people about the resort being discontinued. He said Disney had initiated the change. Too bad, in no was has any RI i have stayed in comparable to the DVC resorts or to some of the hotels on the Concierge Collection.

It depends on what is meant by forging a better relationship with Interval International. If it means opening up more resorts, giving us each full II memberships (or at least the ability to have an individual membership) then great!!! I know they are working with them to have shorter stays than one week, I just hope we get more resort options and the ability to book online through the II website, to any II resort we wish...even just having this ability for a full weekly exchange would be nice.

Sounds like someone that is ill informed or simply guessing and/or with an agenda as they have something to gain if they can pressure DVC to resuming the option. While I can't speak for DVC as to the reason for this change, I see no indication that it's related to II in any way, DVC does not currently work with RCI, haven't since 94 or 95. Given that they didn't do away with the program and that many of the options were popular with members, I'd have to assume that there were other reasons, likely $$$ and/or contract related. There are several factors in the "costs" including the charge by the resort to DVC and the number of points DVD had to use through CRO to generate those dollars. I'd say it's likely DVC took the track record of a given resort in previous negotiations into account when making these type of decisions. DVC has a history of not being willing to negotiate firmly and rather than pushing them for a significantly lower price, simply decided to move on. Just my thoughts, not real facts to back them up other than DVC's past behavior.

Parden my ignorange as I am fairly new, but I never saw these properties listed in the Concierge Collection. What am I missing?
