Hi folks...just back from our weekend stay at the Whitehall Hotel in Chicago for our 20th anniversary.
I know people talk about how using your points outside DVC isn't the best deal, but I must say we were VERY pleased with our stay and the points it used.
The boutique hotel was LOVELY. We had a top floor room with a four poster bed and the most amzing sheets, pillows and duvet cover, and a bay window because we chose the Pinnacle level room. This was more points (43 a night as opposed to 35) but came with some great amenities, including a continental breakfast each morning in our room (the real prices of it was a CRAZY $43 a day just for coffee, juice and pastries for two people,)
We also got a free cocktail and appetizer each night at the bar, and because we braved Chicago in MARCH, it came with a $100 credit to apply to the bar and food tab.
We parked across the street (cheaper) and we were so centrally located, we walked most everywhere, just taking a cab to Second City and back.
So, we had two breakfasts, drinks and appetizers at the hotel, Friday night dinner at the hotel, all charged to our room.
Our hotel bill when we checked out was $26.
All in all very worth it, especially considering we had 69 points to use or lose by the end of the month.
Checking online, our room tab alone would have been over $550 for the two nights, not including all the food and drinks.
