Since I can't get this information from the DVC member website because it's broke, I'll ask it here. Can you make a CC reservation using holding points?

Yes, Holding Account points may be used for any of the other DVC options- subject to the usual holding account policy (may be made 60 days in advance only). The only restriction is that you will not be able to make those reservations during the last 60 days of the Use Year. (You can make a reservation for that time period prior to to last 60 days- but once withiin 60 days of the end of your Use Year, Holding Account points may only be used for DVC reservations.)

I'm still confused. My use year is April. I have 52 points in my holding account. What I'd like to do is use these points to stay at Grove Park Inn on March 26 and 27. Can I make ressies using these points on January 27? The reservation itself is within 60 days of April 1, but I'd be making the reservation outside of 60 days of April 1. Is this allowable?

Let me throw in another oddity also. Looking at the January calendar, the 28th falls on a Saturday when MS is closed. I would not be able to actually make the ressie until January 30 (Monday). Sheesh this is complicated, I just realized February only has 28 days in it. So would that mess me up?

Yes.

You can stay at a non-DVC resort during the last 60 days of your use year. You just can't make the reservation for that stay during the last 60 days of your use year.

If the points are in the holding acount, there is an additional restriction. You cannot make the reservation sooner than 60 days prior to arrival.

Your plan should be OK if you are checking out on March 27. If you are actually chaecking out on March 28, then you have to wait to call until January 30 (January 28 & 29 is a weekend and MS is not open then).

That said, I am not sure if MS just counts all the months as 30 days or if they actually count days. If they count the days, remember than February is only 28 days. I'd calculate based on days and then call MS (when they aren't very busy) to see what they say is the soonest you can call under the 60 day rule. You should be fine.

Best wishes-

I solved my problem, we'll just take a three day weekend in January and go to Grove Park Inn then. Then I don't have the conflict with the end of my use year.
