Concierge a good idea for families?

I would never have considered Concierge before, but it seems like so many people on these boards love it. I am researching a trip to the Poly--and although Concierge seems quite pricey--I am wondering if it could make things easier for my 3 young kids. Does it help to not have to go out for every breakfast and snack? Or is just the better service that people like?

i'm sure you'll get a mixed response... i like the idea of concierge on a bunch of levels... i love being catered to... i like the thought of not having to bring pop tarts for the kids for a speedy breakfast... i like the idea of relaxing late day and having a snack before we head off for "round two" of parades and fireworks... i like the idea of concierge making my ps' for me... so, if i were to consider concierge, it would be for those reasons...

We stayed at Poly Concierge in November. We have two sons, 5 and 2. We absolutely loved concierge!!! The service was fantastic and really catered to the kids! The concierge lounge has an area just for the kids and the staff is really great with them!!!

The food offerings were great and were so convenient. For breakfast they have bagels, muffins, awesome pineapple bread, fruit, toast, juices, milk, coffe and tea.

Afternoon snacks consisted of cookies, gummy worms, m&ms, PB&J sandwiches and a variety of beverages.

Evening offerings were wonderful...Chef Dick is a master. There were at least two hot offerings each evening plus cheese, crackers, fruit, veggies and dip.

Desserts and cordials were offered in the evening.

If we didn't see something we needed out (milk, yogurt, etc.) we would just ask and we would receive!!!

I know it is pricey, but I can't say enough about the quality of the staff and the service they provide. Just access to the monorail is enough to make it worth it!!!

No matter what you choose you will be happy, but if you can afford it, I would say definately go for the Poly concierge!!!

We're doing the Beach Club concierge in Nov. DH and I stayed at YC Concierge for our honeymoon...this time goine with 2 DDs then will be 4yo and 19mo. I think what will be nice for us is breakfast for one thing. None of us are big breakfast people, so we can pick something up there, and snacks later in the day and evening. We figured since this is their first trip we'd try concierge...if we don't get much use out of it, next time we won't.

Welcome to the DIS!!!

As the "Lounge Lizards" know, I am not a huge fan of concierge at WDW. You can find more information about the "Lounge Lizards" here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=680943&highlight=lounge+lizards. They are a nice bunch of people who will welcome you with open arms and answer any questions you might have about concierge.

In general, I don't think it's worth the extra money. However, I think your case is different. You have 3 young children. The lounge includes a free breakfast when your hungry trio awakes. Your kids will also have to come back to the resort early for a swim or rest. More concierge lounge amenities used times 5. Next, you may or may not feel up to going back out to the parks. Snacks all around in the lounge ... that's dinner for the little ones. You finally get the kids to bed and mommy or daddy needs a drink to unwind? The lounge again.

I think you'll love the Polynesian!
