Hi! We are going on the Western cruise in June, and want to do the conch trolley tour in Key West. We are probably going to do the trolley on our own instead of through DCL, since it will be cheaper. Does anyone know if people taking the tours through DCL get to disembark earlier than people touring on their own? Also, does anyone know if you take the tour through DCL if they have trolleys set aside for just for them, or you just go board the trolleys with everyone else? Thanks for any information!

I believe from what I've read that those on the tour get their own trolley and it doesn't make the stops. Those doing it on their own get the regular trolly that makes (I believe) about 10-12 stops. We did it on our own back in May and it worked out great.

As for getting off earlier - I think everyone is allowed to disembark at the same time in Key West.

We just got back from 3/27 Western, and did the Conch train tour on our own. We basically walked from the ship with the group doing the Disney Conch train excursion (helpful so we knew where to go). Only difference was we had to buy our tickets and wait ~10 minutes for next train. According to ticket guy, the trolley goes into both old town and "new town" parts of key west, and stops 6-7 times, but most of those stops are in shopping center-type areas. Train only stopped once, for 10 minutes or so, at a shop with bathrooms and ice cream. In our opinion, the conch train was very interesting (although after awhile it got a bit repetitive).

The DIS excursions go at a specific time and all people on them leave ship as a group at once. At Key West, anyone can leave ship at any time, so you could leave before or after the excursion if you want. It looked like the people on the train excursion did have their own train waiting for them, but the 10 minutes wait wasn't a big deal to us.

Hope this is helpful.

We did the trolley on our own and really enjoyed it. The two stops we were most interested in were the Hemingway House and the southernmost point. We got off at the southernmost marker, but we stayed on at the Hemingway House stop and just walked back there on our own later. When we had gotten our photo, we were able to get on the next trolley that came. But at some of the most popular spots, only a couple of people got off so the people who were waiting had to wait for another trolley to come. As long as you are aware that there might be a longer wait if you get off at a stop, you'll be fine.

We did the trolley tour on our own on our June cruise. I actually was able to order the tickets on line prior to leaving and they mailed them right to our house, it was great. I then walked to the first stop and was able to get right on. You're able to board at any of the stops doing it this way. It was a great way to see Key West and we all enjoyed it.
