Concert prices- holy moly! Starting at $123 for Taylor Swift

no advice, I'll just say I think it's hard to put a price tag on those kinds of memories. My first concert ever, my dad took me to see Whitney Houston when I was 8. The next year, he took my BFF and I to see New Kids on the Block. I have no idea what it cost him, but I doubt he considered it a waste, and I know I did not.

I can barely think back on those two events without tearing up a bit. They were both amazing concerts, a wonderful experience, and something I did with my dad that I will never, ever forget. I think spending $200 on an experience, even at that age, can have a value that far exceeds any physical object you could buy your daughter.

I know. I haven't been to a concert since my early teen years. So, I was shocked at the prices in Philadelphia. However, 2 tickets for $330, on the floor was the best I could do for my DD13, who's a big fan. The prices were close to 400 to start for the "VIP" seats on the outer ring of seating. Umm, hunny, floor is what you get. I doubt there will be any discounts, as I think she has a huge fan base where we live. I assume the tickets may not sell out, but all the "good" seats will have all been sold shortly.

in my opinion she's far too young to go to a concert by herself or even with a friend taylor swift fan base is one of the largest therefor it will be packed QUOTE]

Agreed. I planned to attend with her from the start.

Thanks for sharing this. I hope my dtr feels the same way about this memory. I ended up buying tickets for around $110 each. We plan to make a mini vacation out of it.

(Ticketmaster listed the tickets the day before they opened for presales.)

OMG - those were my first two concerts around the same ages...I agree - memories still decades later!

My 8 year old really want to go to a Taylor Swift concert for her 9th birthday. I thought, great... easy-peasy. Then I starting looking at the prices. The cheapest tickets start at $123!!!! Not to mentioned it would require an overnight stay in Chicago. And she really wants to take her BFF.:crazy2: Any experienced parents or concert goers out there that can share some advise??

Concert ticket prices make WDW ticket prices look like pocket change! LOL

She puts on a fantastic show, but I couldn't get over the prices for this tour! I've seen her twice and the first time paid about $60/ticket for lower bowl seats. We saw her in Michigan at Ford Field, so our seats were about the equivalent of the field away from her.

The next time, I decided I was going to splurge a bit and got the ones that were about $100/ticket. These put us in the first section of the lower bowl to the left of the stage. We could see her catwalk perfectly, but could not see her at all while she was on the actual stage because of the way her sound and lighting were set up. Our tickets said nothing about our view being obstructed. Luckily she spent a majority of the show on the catwalk, so it turned out ok, but if I'd known that we'd have a partial view, I wouldn't have spent over $200.

This time, I just went for the cheapest I could get and am paying around $60 for club level seating. So, not lower bowl but the next level up from it. Our seats are very similar to what they were the first time we saw her, so I'm ok with it. I was not ok with paying almost $150 per ticket for lower bowl and the risk that we'd be obstructed again.

Also, her vip package prices are straight up ridiculous for not even including a meet and greet. I've read Taylor doesn't like for meet and greets to be bought, so they're not included, but come on! I'm pretty sure the most expensive one is $500 and all you're entitled to is a seat in the first 10 rows or something and some mediocre merchandise.

We tried to get tickets for Cleveland during the pre-sale and they were gone before I could hit the refresh button. We did end up with 50.00 seats in Montreal (about 4 hours from our summer house)---so it ended up being ok. It will be like a mini-vacation. DH has always wanted to tour Montreal.

It did mean that instead of going local with their friends, it will be a family event---but it also means DH will go to. He's heard all the songs a million times in the car--so why not? If we had scored Cleveland tickets, I would have teamed up with some other moms and so the girls could all go with their friends and I doubt husbands would be involved.

FWIW-- I tried Cleveland again during the regular ticket launch by phone and web---struck out again. Oh well...at least we have Montreal.

There are still tickets available for Pittsburgh though. It's a huge stadium. That's where we saw the Fearless tour. We had nosebleed seats, but they weren't bad to see the jumbotron and experience the whole thing. I wouldn't want to do that in the rain though---we were lucky it was a nice evening.
