I haven't been since Kelly Clarkson - and I am hoping the crowds won't be as insane...

We were hoping to see Cyndi but our vacation ends tomorrow then it's back home. We are going to see the one tonight

What are the Mardi Gras concerts like? I'm guessing they're held at the large stage near RRR. I'm not into camping out. Still work to watch and listen from back of the crowd? I'll probably breeze by for at least part of Cyndi's set.

Yeah...you can still see and hear everything from the back of the crowd so that would work fine. I'll probably do the same.

The crowd was out of control for Kelly Clarkson, but was quite nice at the Plain White Tee's on Friday. I'm a back-of-the-crowd kind of guy too and even with that you will always be able to enjoy the concert.

My feet were "on grass" at the side of the concert viewing area on Friday night - and that's just walking up after the parade passed by. There was no one behind us other than passers-by.

The PWT's did an awesome job - they reminded me a lot of the eclectic set performed by the Bare Naked Ladies a couple of years ago.

That's cool...glad you had a good time. I'm going over one last time for Mardi Gras this weekend to see Ms. Lauper and take more pictures of the parade.

I'm thinking it will be fairly busy since she's very well known.

There's also a rumor on Screamscape saying the new water show could be ready by this weekend so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed.

Does anyone know if you can get in any earlier than 5 or are they pretty strict about the time? I was also wondering how close the parade is to the concert stage and if it is recommended to see the parade or skip it and just get a place to watch the concert?

The tickets won't "read" valid until 5:01pm so you won't be able to get in early. The parade runs in front on Monsters Cafe so if you aren't concerned about up front, you can watch both from that vantage point. There are large video screens for those who are not near the stage. If you wanted to get up close, you would need to forgo the parade and stake out your spots near the stage. BTW...there are no seats...everything is standing room only.
