Concerns about October 27th

Is anyone else concerned about trying to book on the Oct 27th booking date? I am nervous we will not be able to get any of the places we want b/c of the amount of people who will be calling this day.

After reading all the negative comments about the online system I am thinking this system will be overwhelmed and probably not helpful.

I have also been hearing rumors that you will have to secure ALL ADR with a credit card. Has anyone else heard this?

Not every comment about the online system is negative. I LOVED the online system for my late October ADRs. I went in on my 90 day mark, got all 7 ADRs within 30 minutes of my desired time, checked out & had the confirmation email - all within 15 minutes (and I didn't go in until after 7am on my 90 day mark.

I have also gone in consistently since then with no problems (no cancellations, my ADRs pull up every time).

Many times when others on the board have had connection problems with the ADR site, I have not (this particular time when the whole system was done - well that's self-explanatory). But MANY times when others on the DIS have received system busy errors or couldn't get in, I have been able to get in.

I believe it's worth a shot - at least you get an hour jump on the phone-ins.

Remember that while there will be many more folks than usual trying for reservations that day, those requests will be for seatings that are also spread out over many more days. If you are trying to get seatings for a particular day or week, the competition for that day will be probably no more than usual - and probably a little less for dates farther out.

The challenge will just be getting through in the first place. We know that the phone lines have limited capacity, but we don't know how much capacity the online servers have compared to the usual traffic.

As for the requirement to secure with a credit card, that part was one of the early rumors, but has not shown up in any of the official releases that I know of.

The October 27 date has been particularly frustrating for me - it's my 90 day mark! Had I arrived just one day earlier, I wouldn't have to deal with the stampede that day.

That would be frustrating! I like the word "stampede"; I think this is a great description of what is a good possibility on this morning. Our travel dates are during a "light period" (if there is such a thing any longer at DW), Feb. 5-13th. I am slightly concerned about the end of the week (b/c of President's Day weekend).

I will be trying online as well, hoping this system is up, running, and does not crash due to traffic.

Good luck-Let's hope for some DWM pixiedust:

what percentage of future Disney guests know that the window moves to 180 days on 10/27. My guess, and it is just a guess, is it will be relatively low.

I love the new system, but it does not always work. Just today I tried to make my ADRs for my December trip. After an hour of the system being down and not recognizing anything I had to call at 7:00AM. Now the fact that I have to call or go online on Oct. 27 for both my early March trip and my late April/May trip all at the same time is going to make be crazy. I plan to run 2 computers at one time to try to get some of the hard to get ones early. I may have to train my DH prior so that he can help. And just to make me crazy, my 90 days from my late January trip is October 26th, so I got 2 days in a row to make ADRs for 3 trips total. I will most likely just get my hard ones first then backfill.

My (equally well-informed) guess is that a lot of the people who know enough to know that calling at 90 days is important will also know of the change. It wouldn't take much to double the traffic that day.

For those fearing the apocalypse that day, we certainly won't get 90 times as much traffic as normal, but even if we get enough to double the traffic, that could bring the phone system to its knees - wait times would more than double if incoming traffic doubles.

I have a hunch that the online system - when it works - has more excess capacity, so that may be the way to go on 10/27.
