Concerns about Fall 2012 Disney College Application Process

Hi All,

I am very confused: I applied for the Fall 2012 College Program in the past few days. I completed the first step (basic information) and submitted it; however, I was instantly denied the chance to proceed to the web interview.

Has this happened to anyone else? Being denied immediately, even before you get the chance to do an interview?

I applied for the current session last fall but made it to the web-based interview which I did not pass, but that's a different deal.

I do not believe I submitted anything "wrong" in the information for fall 2012: I'm willing to do any of the jobs, can work at either park, and am available every day. Does anyone know why I could have been denied?

If anyone knows a way to try and contact the program to ask about this, please respond. I do not think it is right to be denied so soon, and I don't think I'm the only one who has experienced this.

Thanks all :)

That's so strange!!! Did you submit the application then get an email? I would definitely call them(I wish I had the number for them to give you) I too find the new process very confusing! I'm waiting for my wbi email to come.

If you applied last term and didn't pass the web-based interview, you have to wait six months before you can apply again.

I think they do that so you can't just try to do the WBI again, but it makes it really annoying in situations like this!

See, do they want you to wait six months to the day? I'm sure I can look up when I applied in the fall, but i didn't apply this time until the applications were open.

In short: I applied last fall and waited until I got the e-mail to apply again before I did.

I believe it does have to be six months to the day, because of how the computer system stores the WBI. Not 100% positive, but after failing the WBI, I have spoken on the phone, by email, and in person to a number of different people, and from what they are willing to tell me, it seems as though that is the case.

One of the people working at the Parents and Family area at check in at Vista Way (I went with my friend to her check in day) said that also many factors from the application can play a part in the decision, such as your year in college, geographic location, which roles you select, etc. They have certain "quotas" I guess that they have to meet as far as diversity in the program. Although, this early in the application season, I wouldn't think that would be cause for rejection already... Weird.

Anyway, to get to the point, the best way to find out is to talk to someone from recruiting.

Don't bother calling them, they won't tell you much. Instead, send an email directly to recruiting (I don't remember off the top of my head what it is, but you can get the email address from the Internships and Programs Blog). In the email, you can ask them to please call you and although it takes them about a week, it is the most effective way to talk to someone who knows what they're talking about. I tried calling the number myself, but the first person knew nothing, then said I had to leave a message for another department and someone was supposed to call back within 48 hours. A week later I was still waiting. About five days after I left a message, I emailed recruiting and got called about a week after that saying they were responding to my email. Disney is not great at the whole communication thing...

ANYWAY, to summarize: Your situation is unusual. Email recruiting. I hope things work out for you. :)
