Concerned about sensitive dd at parks!

I really like the Youtube suggestion. I had picked out a few of the ride videos, (for dh and I to get psyched about the trip)...but I don't want to scare her. So I'll go hunting again for "happy" videos! And Camster - it's good to hear she may come around by the end of the week. And thanks for getting back so quickly! It's always good to hear we're not the only ones...

When my daughter was turning 6 we had a terrible trip with her. She hated everything. O told husband if we did not want to ride small world all day and tea cups we would have to child exchange and hope she would allow US at least to participate.

When we got back we fouind out our friends had the same problem, it was a stage and they just had fear. We went back when she turned 11 and it was much better, but like me, no real terror rides.
This year no trouble for 12 and went on much more. She did clutch my arm for the dip at first on the pirates.
good luck,
dianne
PS maybe start at Epcot in the Innovations, Nemo, type things,

We just got back from WDW it was DS5 first trip. I knew ahead of time he wouldnt be a big fan of the characters and it worked out ok. We didnt force him and about the 3rd day of seeing mommy get autographs and take pics he decided to join in a bit. We were there 10 days because I knew we would have to take it slow and thank goodness we were because we were able to see almost everything at a slow chilled pace. I told him eventually that the characters were just people dressed up.. maynot be a great idea for everyone, but it finally got him to quit freaking out and he still had a ball. We went over time and time again how the rides were just for fun and NOTHING was real it was all just computers. It worked for us. By the way he HATED Small World lol and I agree keep her away from Snow white ride lol. Just go slow and learn quickly to go with the flow.

Thank you to everyone for the input! We have to keep telling ourselves to take it easy... heck, we'll be back in a few years most likely, so she can do all the rides then! :rolleyes2
