Concerned about Fairy Godmothers

I have a concern that I hope someone here can help me to dismiss. I just called and booked Fairy Godmother's for Oct 30th and the woman on the phone seemed like a real ditz. She asked me what else she needed to tell me. The sitter we wanted, through recommendation here, was Marguerite but she has broken her leg and will be out for a few months.

I would love to hear recent, within the last 2 years, reviews of this service and Kid's night out. I would like to hear the good, bad and ugly so I can make an informed decision

We used Fairy Godmothers last week. Vivian showed up 15 minutes early, took DD's 8,6 & 4 to the pool, to the food court for dinner, back to the room for stories and had them asleep at a reasonable hour. I agree the dispatcher did not sound "professional", but that is my only negative comment. I used them 18 months ago and had another good experience then too. I say - Go For It . It was the perfect break for the kids and US!

I'm not sure if I would want a sitter taking my children to the pool. Are Fairy Godmothers licensed and trained in CPR? I was looking at the kids night out website and it said their sitters are not allowed to do water activities. Just a thought.

Yeah, after my first call to FG I truly wondered how that woman had run a business for so many years. She doesn't come across too well on the phone. In fact, I did the same thing as you--ran to my DIS board friends and read all of the archived threads about them. You know what? I didn't find ONE complaint! That says a lot to me. So we did use them (we had Vera) and it was great. Definitely worth it and we would do it again in a heartbeat--DH wants to everytime we go to FL now!

We had Vera when we went in April of 2003. I was so fearful because my kids had never been left with someone besides family. But Vera was SPECTACULAR! She showed up promptly. Even called us to verify our room number because our room was in an akward part of Port Orleans Riverside. She brought toys for my youngest (not even 3 Years old). My oldest (10 at the time) had a book. She asked us what time the kids should go to bed. Truthfully, I told her it didn't matter only because I didn't believe she'd be able to get them to sleep. By the time we came back...Both girls were sound asleep. In the morning, both girls asked what time Vera would be coming over that night!!!

Now that my girls are both a little older, we've just started using the Disney kids clubs. But I would not hesitate to use Vera again any time.
