We just received notice that we our room for an upcoming Mexican Riv. cruise on the Magic has been changed because the room we had reserved was scheduled for maintenance on our cruise. We were moved two cabins down to a connecting cabin. (Not an upgrade) My question is, will we be receiving a lesser cabin because it is a connecting room? Your thoughts are appreciated.

I wouldn't think so. Some folks say that noise travels easier between connecting stateroom but that isn't what I have found. The staterooms are pretty much identical. Go enjoy!

The only thing that I would think would be different is if your original room had the steamer trunk. I believe the steamer trunk is in the spot where the connecting door would go. (someone correct me if I am wrong)

We've had connecting with a steamer trunk before - so maybe it depends on the category.

Both times we've had connecting, we opted for them - but we often had the doors closed between us and had no issues. As long as both doors on both sides were closed, I don't think there was a difference between that and the time we had a non-connecting room as far as noise goes.

We had steamer trunks in connecting rooms. We never heard the neighbors in our connecting room---although, I'm sure they can't say the same about us since DD had a major screaming meltdown one night. I'm sure the entire hallway could hear her. :sad2:

We just cancelled one of our connecting rooms on our Mexican Riviera, mind me asking what room number you are in? We are 5022 we had 5024 also.
