Sorry if this has been addressed before, seems like on previous posts there has been some problems getting the reservations requested, waiting lists, etc.....When we have gone on previous vacations we never had a problem getting the rooms requested when paying cash, in 1997 a two bedroom villa in BWV and 2000 the same at OKW.
Is the allotment of rooms to DVC members kept low as compared to cash guests??
We usually go on vacation from Oct to mid Dec, how are bookings at that time of year for DVC??
We are scheduled to close tomorrow (Jun 14), how accurate is the date given, and what's next to look forward to??

Thanx to all for the being the best board around:wave:

If you are able to plan your trips ahead there will rarely be any reservation difficulties 11 months in advance.

At OKW and BWV, all rooms are available only to owners (except the 2-4% held back by DVC for maintenance). Any cash rooms at those resorts are available only because owners have chosen to use their points at other resorts or on a cruise.

Since all resevations are on an "as available" basis, there may be times when a resort has exhausted it's reservation supply and further reservations are dependant on someone else cancelling.

60 days in advance, all unreserved rooms are made available to CRO for general cash reservations.

As soon as Disney has your recorded deed entered into their computer, you may begin making reservations. Enjoy the program!

Thanks for the info Doc

We feel that since we like to go about every 2-3 years and make big vacations out of it this will be a perfect fit and a great money savings (Did some not so exacting math but figured a cash reservation for Nov 28 to Dec 11 at VWL would be about $18000 plus all included, while DVC comes in at about $10000 for seven people....one more trip and we break even on initial investment)

One more question please................If I know my exact dates WAY ahead of my 11 month window, can I still call for reservations and be put on some kind of waiting list???

Sorry, but the 11 month window at your home resort will be the earliest you can book. There is no earlier waiting list, except for Special Season, I believe.

Sounds like you have already done some homework with your figures!

As CarolAnn stated, there is no "advance" wait list, but you should be fine at 11 months. Since it appears that you want to go for 2 weeks, I'd make the 1st week's reservation at 11 months and then reserve the 2nd week 7 days later (and have MS simply link the two together to make one continuous ressie.)

Late Nov/early Dec is a great time to go! Enjoy!

Yeah, did my homework and then some........At first we were very apprehensive about joining since the initial sales pitch we got in 1997, but when we sat down and did the math AND used this board it really made a lot of sense to us to join...We also tried to figure out why DIS would offer this and this is what we deduced....About 55,000 families have bought into DVC, lets figure at an average of $16,000 per contract, thats about 880 million that DIS has to pay off the higher interest bonds and debt needed to build these grand resorts, I wonder if the 2042 date has anything to do with the maturing of the bonds needed to pay for construction and when they figure the DVC funds have reached a break even point for their profit as far as the rooms go, they still profit off of park admission, meals, merchandising while you are there....

Again, once more with feeling.................thanx to all (especially Doc N Carol)
