No end in sight to blackout

in this day and age, a blackout that has lasted 6 days...with no end in sight?


my sister lives in Astoria. she lost electricity monday night and it still has not been restored. by thursday she had had enough, so she made like a refugee and headed to my parents' house.

I thought I heard something about some criminal charges may be filed for this? Is this true?

the NY State Assemblyman representing Astoria --- who has been sitting in the dark since Monday -- has urged the Queens DA to investigate whether criminal charges should be filed against Con Ed officials, but I think it's really just spin.

Yup, just political blather, trying to fool his constituents into thinking he's actually doing something for them.

"This day and age" -- There is nothing specifically magical about this day and age with regard to transmission of electricity. The technology for what's actually wrong hasn't changed (for the better) for many years. Indeed, one has to wonder how much of this problem stems from decades of degradation in the nation's whole service model.

It's happened to me more times then I can count (14 days being the record, in January). I guess that is what living in the boonies gets you. That is why everyone here has a generator.
