Computer virus?

Today in my junk mail folder, I got a message that was listed as being from my email address. When I clicked on the message, I got a warning saying "Microsoft SmartScreen has blocked this message for your safety and we'll delete it after ten days. "

Does this mean that our computer in infected or that my email address has been hacked into?

We run McAfee.

Most likely not but change your email password to be sure. Spam can very easily fake it's from address to be the same as the to address and that is most likely what happened.

All of the contacts in your address book start getting email that appears to have come from you is a clearer sign of infection or a compromised password.
