Last night I fell victim to an infamous computer virus email attack. :sad1:
I opened a Hallmark E-card (what was I thinking:confused3 ) and it totally locked up everything. By some small miracle DH managed to get back into the system in the 'safe mode' and do a system restore to a previous date. We were able to access everything again, ran CCleaner, NoAdware, and WinCleaner. Everything 'appears' to be normal...but is my computer really safe now? I am scared to log onto my bank account, etc. for fear the virus is still 'lurking' somewhere on my system. :scared: Do I need to go purchase some kind of software to really clean my system?
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. :)

Do you have a virus scanner installed. I would get the free version of AVG or Avast. They are just as good if not better than Norton or McAfee.

I don't think we have a virus scanner installed...just CCleaners, NoAdward and WinCleaner. Which I assume isn't any good for protection against viruses. Where is the best place to find AVG or Avast? I worry about downloading anything because our system is about 6-7 years old and can be quite temperamental.
