Can I take a DVD, and install the content onto my computer? My computer has a DVD player installed, so I can watch the DVD, but this is a video of my kid's play, and I wanted to be able to share some highlights of it with my friends. I'm not going to invite them to watch a 3 hour production.

Plus, my DS is a member of Boston Casting, and I would like to put a video clip of him on there, so they can see him act.

Anyway to do this, or am I out of luck?

you want to take a video from a dvd (non-copyrighted) and put it on your hard drive of your computer? Yes you can do this. There are programs out there, some free and some pay. I have had success with dvd shrink. You can use the reauthor tool on there to edit where you want the video to start and end. The files end up being video_ts and audio_ts, the audio file folder is empty.

Or you can use videora to convert them for an ipod (mp4 format) and then upload to youtube.
