Here's a question i've never seen asked. Does anyone know if I would have any chance to get my laptop connected into the ships internet access? The reason I ask is, to communicate with my hospital's network, i need a special piece of software. I doubt if they would let me download it onto the ships computer. If i could just connect my laptop network card to the ship network I think it would work fine. Do they do this in the business support area?
If I have to do it via ship to shore phone it's not worth the expense.

Interesting questions???

Are you refering to a VPN software for you laptop to communicate with the hospital? If yes I would suggest you call DCL on that. My guess is that someone would need to help you with the potential network configuration issues on the ship, assuming they allow you to unplug the PC on the ship :D

as always this board is amazing.
Within 5 minutes i get an answer, and yes a VPN is exactly what i'm talking about.
Has anyone asked disney about this before?

Sorry doctorrick, never asked the question....

I would imagine it depends on how the network on the ship is set up in regards to IP addresses, filtering, host names etc.. etc.. SOme of the possibilities that can interfer with your VPN software.

However it is still an interesting question???

No, sorry. It's not possible to connect your laptop to the Internet except via ship-to-shore dial-up. There is no way to use the Internet Cafe Internet connection to your laptop.
