Computer Question on Trouble

On my work computer, when I tried to log on to the internet, the address bar on the bottom of the screen started to blink very fast and the internet never came up. Sound familiar to anyone??

It happened to my son's computer. Had to take it in to have spyware removed. They said some spyware program had hijacked the computer! $100.00 later, everything is running smooth!
