I have a lot of digital photos that I need to make into clickable thumbnails for my website so they dont take up so much space.

Can anyone tell me how to do this or which program is best for photo editing.

So far I have tried my editing software that came with the camera and my HP software and they didnt have that option.

Any ideas?
TIA :)

Hiya Binny!

I use Macromedia Fireworks but if you don't have that then how about something like Photoshop?

Basically you need to reduce them to about 100x100 size, a la:

Well, I think that's a good thumbnail size anyways, perhaps you will want them a bit bigger?

Also, be sure to keep them as JPEGs as this is really the best format for photos on the web.

Edited to sort out picture!

Good Luck!

Hiya,

You are welcome, hope it helps!

I'm grocery shopping now but if you need any more help just PM me and I'll get right back to you.

I know you can do it tho!!!

Firreworks is pretty expensive software to just resize photos, there are a few good share ware programs that are pretty simple to WinJPG and LViewPro are ones I have used in the past.

are you sure there are no options for this on your editing software that should be standard for photo editing

even worst case scenario, you can always use the full size pictures for the thumbnails, just set the height and width paramenters in your HTML to the thumbnail size you want, as long as you have optimized your photos for web use they won't take long to download into your thumbnail frames and will also leave you only one copy of each photo on your web space

I have an old version of WinJPG, that's about 333KB, it's a zipped file but contains an executable file, meaning that I could possibly be sending you a malicious file, although I wouldn't :-D, it's pretty simple to use, I could send it to you, but I would recheck your photo editing software first, I'm sure there must be editting for that somwhere

ok so all I have to do is resize it? that I can do.

what I want though is to have a thumbnail that is clickable so I can have several shots on my webpage then people can click on it and the pictures enlarge automatically.

Doesnt that require more than just resizing?
