I have a wireless router for my laptop. Somehow someone else's wireless router over rode mine.

I have 2 questions:
First how would that happen? The strength was way less than mine.
Second I noticed it said that mine as well as that one was insecure. How do I lock mine from someone else using wireless router? I think I need a firewall, but am not sure how to obtain one. Is it a program I need to buy, or a program I should have?

I guess that was technically 3 question, but any help is appreciated :teeth:
Thank you

You need to enable the WEP encryption on your router. Its part of the setup process. You can create a password for the encryption and only computers who log on with that password can connect to the router.

Do you know how I can go in and do that now?

What brand router are you using? I'm only familiar with the setup screen for Linksys. Do you still have your setup instruction manual? It should be in there. The WEP encryption on Linksys is a breeze.

Thank you! I have netgear, I'll look for the manual. I wasn't sure if it was a separate program or not. Thanks again!

I'm sure you can also find the instructions on the NetGear website too. You can usually download those on the manufacturer sites.

Thank you, I will look it up on the website, it will probally be faster.
