I must have reset something - I keep getting the message that cookies/javascript is disabled. I've followed the directions to go to Tools/Internet Options/etc/ several times, but I must have reset something more detailed and I can't find what I need to correct. Any ideas? I have Windows Vista and I've done both the Internet Explorer and Earthlink toolbars. I have a Dell desktop.

Thanks in advance if you have any ideas. I'm about to just go buy a new computer!!

Sometimes, those messages stem from cookies getting corrupted, rather than disabled. (Because they're corrupted, it looks to the server that they're disabled... there's no different in effect.) Have you fully cleared your browser cache in the last couple of days? If not, then do that now, and then try again.

Thanks, I tried that but it didn't work. Oh, well...

Did you reboot after you cleared your cookies?

Is it just from one site? If you normally go to sites where you are logged in, like here, where you do not log off, and can come back without re-logging in, then your cookies are probably working properly. Maybe there is a problem at the other site.

That's the problem. I leave the DIS where I am logged in and when I come back my info is erased and I have to log in again. When I try to read a comment on some other websites I used to be able to do, it tells me my cookie functionality is disabled, but when I follow the directions it doesn't fix it. Frustrating...

I didn't reboot, though. I'll try that...

That didn't work, either.

Is this recent, like in the last day or two? Try doing a System Restore. That's my go-to for practically everything. It usually always works. :thumbsup2

Just pick a date a couple days before your computer stopped working correctly.

You can always UNDO the System Restore.

To do a System Restore:
Go to START -> Programs ->
Accessories -> System Tools ->
System Restore

Then pick a date like last Wed, what ever is BOLDED around then. (Remember you can always UNDO it, or even Undo and pick an earlier date if necessary.)

It will reboot you to that earlier date and you should get your settings back. you do NOT lose any documents, files, emails, personal stuff. It only changes computer systems stuff, and whatever I.E. bookmarks you added after the date you pick to restore to.
