I went to check my email today, and there is a message in my "in" box from my email address. The title of the email is something about a clearance sale. When I click on the email, I get a message saying that it's been blocked for your safety.

I run Norton Internet Security (anti-virus, firewall, identity). Does this mean that we have a virus?

Probably not. The email most likely did not come from your address rather it was "spoofed" to make it look like it came from you. If you view the full message headers, you will see it came from another address.

They message may have contained a virus and your anti-virus program stripped it out. Just to be on the safe side, make sure your virus definitions are up to date and run a full system virus scan.

Thanks!

Furthermore, if you get an email that seems suspicious, don't click on it! Certainly anything that you know didn't come from you is a no-no. Anti-virus software is nowhere near 100%.
