I apologize because I know this has been answered several times before, but I keep receiving errors when using the search function.
I run an Internet children's clothing boutique, and need to access my site and check emails daily or at least every other day while we visit WDW. I don't plan on bringing a laptop--if I don't have to. Where do I need to go to access a computer. I don't need any extreme capabilities--just to be able to retrieve and reply to email, etc. I know there are conference centers somewhere, but what would be the closest to our resorts and the easiest?
We are staying at the WL and AKL.
Thank you in advance,
Danielle

Danimb3,

There must be computers available to use. However, I've never seen them. I do know there were data jacks in the rooms at the contemporary. I did read somewhere online that there were some computers available at the GF conference center. Maybe you could call them and check to make sure they indeed exist!

I think the easiest way is to bring your laptop, then you can use the data port in the phone in your room. That way you don't have to trudge all over the place then pay the high fee Disney charges to use their conference center computers.

This is so true if you're staying at AKL. I don't know about you, but I don't fancy going all the way to CSR or BC just to use their computers. If you're ok with dial-up then you can do this from the comfort of your room.

Thank you both for the replies. I think I will opt for the laptop in our room. You are right, why spend some of my vacation searching for a computer!
Thanks again,
Danielle

We are staying at CBR Nov. 26 - Dec. 4. We stay in this resort all the time, but this year I will be taking my Laptop. Does anyone know if they have internet access at CBR?

You'll have dialup from any WDW hotel room.

Closest business office (with computers to check e-mail) to

WL, go to CR

AKL, got to CSR

CBR has dial up Internet access. Find a local number for your internet provider before you go and then check and make sure you are dialing a local number. Cost is 75 cents per call.

I checked with AKL before our trip in June and was told that they didn't have the data ports in the room at that time but would have them at some time in the future. So I didn't take the lap top.

They may have them by now, but they didn't have them when we were there the first week in June. You might want to check before you leave or just plan on using the dial up phone line. Just remember a lot of hotel systems charge an extra fee on calls lasting more than 30 minutes...or is it 10, I forget.

I always use my cell phone for voice calls in hotels and pay the fee for the high speed service for 24 hours and time it so that I can use the internet twice in 24 hours and use the service every other day and still manage to check e-mail every day.

The dial up access at the resorts is through the data port on the telephone. It is only the convention hotels that have high speed internet and wireless is available in some locations.

There is no additional charge for staying on the phone for long periods of time on a local call. We have been on for hours and no additional charge. Other hotels charge like that but Disney doesn't.

I wasn't sure how Disney charges for the local calls. Like I said I always use my cell phone since there is no charge for roaming or long distance with my plan and I always have minutes left over.

Safetymom,

I'm 99% certain that the CR was offering high speed access for 9.95 in our hotel room. This was in August of this year. They had a little tent card on the credenza next to the light/data/phone port device.

I'll email them to double check though... I could have been delerious... I was after all in Disney!

Local calls from Disney is only .75 cents per call, unlimited time.

The high-speed is 9.95 for a 24-hour period.
