Composition of new hot dogs?

I've been hearing now that the hot dogs have been changed from all beef to a mystery meat. Does anyone know if that mystery includes pork? We don't eat pork and have always loved being able to get a hot dog at Disney without worrying. I'd be really sad to have to mark them off the list.

I read in several places it will be beef and chicken.

Ick. I don't like hot dogs made with chicken. The "healthy" buns were bad enough and now this.

My kids and I don't eat pork either. The hot dogs we ate at Casey's appeared to be some sort of chicken or turkey blend based on the texture. While I don't object to turkey and chicken sausage, I find turkey and chicken hot dogs to have a weird rubbery texture, which these hot dogs had.

I recently contacted the Disney allergies folks about the hot dogs because we are coming down in a couple of weeks and my nephew has an egg allergy (some blended hot dogs have eggs). They were kind enough to email me the ingredients list. Here is a quote from their email:


All food locations at the Walt Disney World Resort now has a Gourmet Beef & Chicken blend Frank- John Morell Foodservice -6 to 1 Chicken & Beef Blend Hot Dog (8 to 1 for Kids Chicken & Beef Blend Hot Dog). INGREDIENTS: MECHANICALLY SEPARATED CHICKEN, BEEF, WATER, SORBITOL, SALT, FLAVORINGS, SODIUM PHOSPHATES, SODIUM ERYTHORBATE, SODIUM DIACETATE, SODIUM LACTATE, POTASSIUM LACTATE, SODIUM NITRITE, EXTRACT OF PAPRIKA.

So, no pork.

Oh and six parts chicken to one part beef (8 parts chicken for kids). Yikes. Why don't they just serve chicken dogs.

We ate at Casey's in late Sept (this year) and were told the hot dogs are chicken and beef. Dh has a turkey allergy so we made them double check and were again told only chicken and beef. I'm glad they didn't give us that ingrediant list - so much nicer not knowing all of the details

I doubt it. Natural casing hotdogs are too expensive.

I never really want to know what kind of meat is in any hotdog. All I know is they are very tasty for a quick meal and a true american classic.
