Jerry Goldsmith, likely the most versatile composer in movie music history, died of cancer yesterday. He wasn't very much involved with Disney, but did compose the music for Mulan as well as the ride Soarin'.

Here is some info on Goldsmith:

Very sad news, he was such a talented composer.

I collect soundtracks, and his are among my favorites. Some of his other well known film scores include Alien, Poltergeist, The Trouble With Angels (for all you Hayley Mills fans) and A Patch of Blue.

His soundtrack for the movie "Medicine Man" was very good
