Was looking for some input on if anyone has received a room upgrade at check in. I know Disney tends to do this on occasion and seeing as we’re going for our honeymoon, I was hoping for some good luck with an upgrade? Anyone here experience this at Universal?

Room upgrades, at both Disney and Universal, happen due to resort operational needs such as overbooking or a room unexpectedly going out of inventory. Unfortunately, they don't do it to be kind. In the current environment, the upgrades seen at WDW have been them moving people from resorts that will be closed during their travel dates to resorts that will be open, which may be a level or two up from where they were booked. This wouldn't be a factor at Universal. Frankly, since attendance and resort capacity is so low, I can't seem them needing to move many people due to operational needs, as long as the resort is open.

All of that said, it doesn't hurt to politely mention your honeymoon and ask if there's an upgrade available. Most employees' hands will be tied, but if you don't ask, the answer is always no!

I've been upgraded twice at CBBR from a standard room to a family suite (traveling solo). I did not care for the exterior entry suite but it was 10 AM and it was what was offered, so I took it. I have been upgraded at PBR to a deluxe room with a view of the bay, which was nice but again I was solo and it really didn't matter much! I've never asked for one.

I remember the good'ole days of always getting a King suite at RPR as a YouFirst Plat member and Loews First before that. 8-) Unfortunately, Loews did away with their program.

The last time we stayed at CBBR, they still had YouFirst, unfortunately though CBBR didn't participate. But I did ask about an upgrade (7 night stay) at check-in. The check-in person tried to upgrade us (base level room) to a family suite, but they didn't have any available for our full 7 night stay. They did offer to upgrade us to a VB view room though. So we did get a little upgrade just by asking.

For my stay at PBR late last year, I asked at check-in about getting a balcony room and they were able to do that for me (I had reserved a Club level room which comes with a Deluxe room but not a guarantee of a balcony).

So it never hurts to ask. :)

We are here now at sapphire falls.I booked a standard 2 queen room. When I checked in I asked about an upgrade and was asked if I wanted a pool or lagoon view. I chose lagoon.
We got the 8th floor and 4 rooms away from the elevator.

We actually have a king suite booked at Sapphire Falls for August 11th for our honeymoon. Hoping for at least a lagoon view

We got one this weekend at Aventura without asking for it. They upgraded us to a skyline view for our room, which was quite nice. Not sure how often that happens though.
Originally we had booked a king deluxe room at Aventura but switched to a King Suite at Sapphire Falls.

Our first year we stayed at CBBR in an interior family suite and loved it. Last year we did the exterior suite and it was terrible. So bad that we decided to try Sapphire Falls this year instead.
