Complimentary refrigerator @ Value resorts!

Yikes...and we just got our new fridge, oh well we will keep it in circulation until its not needed! Then who knows where it will go.

I have stayed in 70's and 50's.mMaybe I am confused about the coffee pot. I don't need one, but I thought we had one. If everyone else says no, I must be wrong. Kind of hard to believe they don't have them. I mean, even the cheap hotels give you a coffee pot.

WOW.. this would be great... as I have two rooms in January ... did sign up for frig swap but this would be soooooo much better..

It's only better to me if the fridges also have a freezer compartment. If the resorts do put fridges in the rooms with a freezer then there will be no point in running the fridge swap.

We've never had coffee pots in the Values either. I have always brought my own travel coffee pot. Here is the one I am bringing on our next trip. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0Y8YHVHE1HV3Y2NX5J9Y

I saw a reply back from Magical Memories Travel's Facebook page about the fridges in the rooms....

Magical Memories Travel said:
We first heard rumors of this from guests staying at value resorts who were told of this by front desk and housekeeping cast members. We called to confirm with Disney's inside sales and with management at one of the resorts. A recent email says installation may not be fully complete by month end but will be ongoing and completed as quickly as possible. ---- I would not expect an "official announcement by Disney" on this or other similar changes. They did not make an official announcement when they installed fridges in all of the moderate resorts a few years ago nor did they make a big announcement when Port Orleans French Quarter rooms were all updated to include queen size beds.

The fridges at the Mods do not have freezer sections, so I expect the ones at the Values will not either.

I'm glad they're going in the Values finally. I always thought it was odd they didn't have them there.

I always assumed that they did not have them in the Values because it was sort of a perk for staying in at least a Moderate. I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth but I do wonder why they chose to do this at the Values finally. Does anyone think that it may have to do with too many orders for fridges to be put in and it just seemed like a better idea to just put them in all the rooms and leave them and then charge at least $5 more per night? I can see Disney giving "free WiFi" the same way. Put the WiFi setup in all of the resorts and then charge another $5 per night per room. They would still recoup their money and we would be happy to have the WiFi. Car dealers have been doing this for decades. "We'll give you $4000 trade in value for your car!" then just charges $3500 more per car. :rolleyes1

Sounds like a good idea - we could have used one in June! I think the pp was on the right track - too much of a pain to put one in when someone wants one and then take it back out for not a lot of money. Just put them in and raise the prices a little - less manpower!

I hope the swap fridges can go to someplace that can truly use them, maybe give kids the world. They have refrigerators listed on their need list, but I don't know if they are looking for full sized ones for their main kitchen or room sized for their make a wish families.

I'll try to keep mine running then. I really use the freezer part more than the fridge. I take frozen water to the parks each day.

From your lips to Disney's ears! I wish this would happen; the sooner the better!

we've stayed at POP 5 or 6 times and have never had one. They said they didn't have them due to possibility of kids getting burned.

But they have coffee makers at the Mods and Deluxes so I don't really understand the reasoning.

While a refrigerator is nice what I really want and can't believe Disney still doesn't have is free wi fi!!!

Really Disney?

Cool! That is the one thing I really missed when we stayed at Pop last spring. Adding the dividing curtain in the bathroom area and a fridge really narrows the gap between value and moderate IMO.

Truthfully, they are probably tired of all the fridge swaps, and using their luggage department to keep up with them. We did one one time and it was a pain. We bought a small fridge last fall, but ended up staying somewhere else, we will just use it at home for extra sodas.

I completely agree. So how do we make them tired of dealing with the WiFi needs of guests and just give that out for free? (Like so many other hotels across the country  )

That I don't know, because I don't need Wifi when I am on vacation. I don't bring my computer, only use my iPod for music and movies that are downloaded and I have a smartphone.

Yeah, I just tether of of my Infuse but I know a lot of people would like to have it. I used it last year for trip reports and such but it was a little slower tethering than using my wifi at home. This next trip I will be using my tablet at WDW for many things in and out of the parks so I will be using the tethering again but it would be nice to have wifi at the resort. :)

Most resorts and high-end properties charge for Internet service, wired or wireless. Walt Disney World does provide the Ethernet cable guests need to get online; it's not unreasonable to expect guests to provide their own additional equipment to be wireless.

WDW doesn't want us in the rooms on computers. They want us in the parks spending money.

I see your point. But really, who is going to spend that much money for rooms, tickets, gas/airfare, etc... and not go to the parks? :) I think most people would only use it during afternoon relaxation time or in the evening when they are at the resort for the night.
