Yep, it's posted at the top of the DIS on the left. They were one of the first sites to post the info. :thumbsup2

:rolleyes1 Oh well. Thought I was posting new stuff. It doesn't really apply to me so that's why I didn't notice it here I guess. I couldn't help but see it in the newsletter.

I was all over this deal this weekend. I booked 3 different resort stays at 40% off and we are using the free tickets to go to Mousefest in Dec.

Thank You Disney!!!!

I've talked my parents into going on at least one Disney trip this year - and maybe two - thanks to the discounts. (Dad is retired Army.)

Thanks Disney!! :woohoo:

I thought that was pretty cool, what a nice way to honor those who have served (or are currently serving)! They deserve it!

Does that mean we will need two more Light Sabers?! :)

This is good for retired servicemen as well? That would be my dad. Maybe I can talk him into taking the grandkids.

Okay, quick question on this. I just talked to my DH, because one of his employees is thinking of going to Disney World and might not because of the money. However, he was in the military (not sure which area). He was in for 5 years, but he didn't retire military. It wasn't his career. My dad is the same way. He enlisted for four years and then was discharge. Are people like this eligible?

I am not 100% and this seems to be of great debate but I do not believe they would be eligible. I believe if they are not currently serving or Reservists with some activated orders that they would have to be retired. My Dad did 25 yrs. in the Navy so he is eligible.

This was reported on the DIS before most of the ITT/MWR offices on bases knew about it. Unless you are going in the next week or so I'd let the dust settle and then have your Dad call SOG and they should have the particulars ironed out.

Hmmmm, I will have to think about whether I want to give my parents the power of Mickey light saber - they might not be able to handle the power and fun that comes with it. :rotfl2:

No, sorry they aren't eligible. They have to be active or retired. :thumbsup2

My stepdad is retired National Guard. I think I'll do some investigating when I get back in Feb. for a possible trip later this year. Maybe during Food&Wine? That would be great! Only problem I see is, we don't have military IDs. I'm a bit fuzzy on this part. It says family members AND friends can get the companion ticket but then goes on to say further down that you need a military ID. I need to re-read everything closely and see if I can figure it all out.

You'd have to show some kind of military ID, so that alone might help people determine whether or not they'd be eligible.

It says "(Spouse or military dependents can receive the companion discount without the military service member being present as long as they have their military ID)." So in order for someone other than the eligible military person to be able to purchase the companion tickets they would need to present their own military ID. People that are using the military companion tickets do not have to present ID in order to use them.

Here's another question. BIL is active duty, but not coming with us in May. SIL has spouse ID..am I correct in thinking that she'd be able to buy five tickets with her id at $99? I have AP, but I know she could really use a discount on her tickets.

I wonder how they would know who is active or reserve. The id cards stopped saying active/reserve/guard a few years back. I am pretty sure Disney doesn't have the redphone access to DEERS, but I was wondering if anyone new how they were going to enforce this. My husband was Active Duty for over ten years and has been a Naval Reservist for almost 5 years. If you are active duty, then you don't need to show them your orders when you buy tickets, but if you are an activated reservist, then you need your orders. How are they going to know which one you are? Especially since the offer says you can buy tickets at any Main entrance or Guest Relations. I can see them knowing at ITT or something, but not at Magic Kingdoms front entrance. And why do you think that they want to know the name of your base and your state? If anyone actually goes to the main gate and purchases tickets, then by all means, let us know what their procedure is. VERY interesting...

Yes that is correct! For an additional $25 per option per ticket she can also add the park hopper and/or water park option. It's a great deal that my family is also hoping to take advantage of, including DH getting his free 5 day hopper!
