ETA: RESOLVED. THANK YOU DISBOARDS! :)

Right now I have three separate reservations, paid in full via giftcard & creditcard, for mid December. The reason I had three is because at the time that was the only way to book.

Today, I was able to get a fourth reservation- all of the dates in one reservation online. This is desirable because there is no threat of room change-it is also a better rate.

Now, what do I do?

If I cancel the original three we lose our Fastpasses.

There is also the issue of Disney Giftcards maxing out at $1000- the card the money would go back to could not handle the amount that would be refunded. (Still has a balance, I used the giftcard management site to combine, etc.)

I have learned that the way Disney works they could not fix this without cancelling the original three, refunding me, then adding the notes to reservation four and having me pay again. Could they possibly merge the original three and apply the new rate? What do I do?!

What is the best way to handle this? I have had consistently terrible phone experiences. Any advice appreciated. We are AP if that matters. All reservations are room only.

I believe, worst comes to worst, I can wait until 30 days from my last FP day then cancel the original three rooms and keep my FP as we are AP. Before doing so, I could transfer the balance off the giftcard onto another empty giftcard. Would this work? Is it my only option?

I don't know abou the gift cards, but I do know that if you make your new resort reservation before cancelling you old ones, you will not lose your Fastpass. I've done this more than once (also have AP) with no issues at all.

This helps! Thank you!

I agree with this. I literally just did this the other night and couldn't sleep all night worrying about my fastpasses being cancelled. I also got all of my dates together instead of separated. I wish I could help on the other end of things too, but I'm not sure what to do about the other situation! You may have to just call Disney and find out!

The FP wouldn't be cancelled even if you didn't book the room first as long as you had tickets.
The FP are tied to tickets, not resort.
The resort stay is what opens your window but it doesn't control the FP
Yeah, I know what the message on MDE says but it's wrong. Unless you cancel a package that had room and tickets combined.
Room only does not do anything to FP

As for the refund, it should go back on the method used to pay, each one.
So the gift card portion should go to gift card used, the credit card to the credit card used.
They won't put it all on a gift card.
And it's still possible they can adjust 1 of your existing reservations to the new reservation. Not by combining what you had but by taking 1 of the 3, and changing it to match the dates you have, and the promo, with the new reservation you found. Basically using Change Reservation to apply new dates and promo to 1 of the existing reservations. If that makes sense. Some can even do this online themselves. Others need to call.

Yes, this. The only problem is, is sounds like you already made a fourth reservation? If that's the case, they won't be able to modify one of the original reservations to the new one. When you search, are your dates still available at the discount you found? If so, I would modify one of your original one night reservations to the new one that includes all of your dates and then cancel out reservations #2, #3 and #4. You may be able to do this online or simply call. If you call, ask to speak with someone in guest services to help you with this.

Call, explain the situation and ask them if they will cancel the 3 reservations and transfer the money to the new reservation. You may need to speak to GS but it can be done. They won't transfer money from a package to a room only but if they are both room only they can do it. With all things Disney YMMV. Good luck hope they do it for you.

Thank you! I was able to modify one of the original three online. I'll know for next time. :) So happy, much appreciated!

Excellent news! Jealous you can still use Change online. I lost the ability a few months back so I have to call. It's much less fun to play with changes when I can't see it in black and white, and I have to call.
Before, I'd check out an upgraded room, see that it came out to be a small increase and pop, make the change. Now, I just tend to stay put, Disney lost the money I'd spend on an upgrade when they changed my ability to do it myself.
And I've called and they can't explain why. The Change option is still there, just doesn't do anything
