Greetings Friends!

I have a complicated (well, at least it is complicated to me) points shuffling question that I am hoping someone can help me figure out.

I currently own at BCV, we bought in in 2003, with an August use year.

In 2003, my points were used:
32 points to send brother-in-law and wife on honeymoon
118 banked

In 2004:
I used 112 points to book SSR for family in Aug
Got my 150 points for 2004
Sold 176 points to business associate for Nov trip
(6 banked+ 150+ 20 borrowed 2005)
MONKEYWRENCH:
Personal tragedy struck and family could not go to SSR. 112 points put in holding account

So if I understand things correctly (and I very well may not)
my points look like this:

2003
32 used (in-laws); 112 holding (must be used by 7.31.05); 6 sold

2004
150 sold

2005
20 sold (borrowed) and I will get the remaining 130 on 8.1.05

So if I have not thoroughly confused just about everyone with this, my ultimate question is: Could I contact Member Services at the 60 day window and ask that they modify the points that I sold to be all the banked points and then the balance from my 2004 points? Thereby changing my usage to look like:

2003
32 used (in-laws); 118 sold

2004
58 sold; 92 left

2005
150 on 8.1.05

IF I can do this I will be able to eliminate the points I have in holding and not have my hands tied to the 60 day window.

Anyone out there have to offer any advice as to if this can, could, would or won't happen.

Thank you in advance
Jess

You might get them to reallocate the points, but if you do, you're points would looks like this:

2003
32 used (in-laws); 118 sold

2004
58 sold; 92 left; 20 borrowed from 2005

2005
130 on 8.1.05

Remember that borrowing is a final transaction and those points can't be put back into the use year. Now, if you decide to have them use the borrowed points, you'd then have 112 left in your 2004 use year, which you could then bank into 2005 if not going. I'm not sure how DVC works in reallocating points, and if this can be done, but it can't hurt to ask.

So you want to substitute the holding account points for the business associate's trip in November? I think that will only work if they have room availability for your associate's dates.

DebbieB is correct- if you wish to use the holding account points for a trip already booked- they will cancel the existing reservation and rebook using those points - if the dates are available. If there is a wait list for those dates, you will not likely be allowed to change the points (you're effectively trying to defeat the purpose of the holding account). If there is availability, you'll have no trouble making that change.

It can't hurt to try, but don't be surprised if/when you're told they can't do that.

Good luck!

This is exactly why I should have paid more attention to story problems in high school.

Good luck!

You have two additional options. First, you can ask DVC if you can use your one time banking exception thus banking those 112 points to next year. Whether it's worth it depends on whether you can use the points or not. You can try to sub some or all the points into the rented reservation then book the freed up points. If you do so between 31 and 60 days that will work fine. While it technically is a cancel then rebook, if there is availability, the outcome is still the same.
