I started working with a new company just about one month ago exactly. Yesterday a manager from a different area of the company (not my manager) approached me and asked to speak with me. She told me that a new position in her area had opened up, and even though I have not been there very long that she wanted me for it. Appearantly she had her eye on me and specifically asked my manager (without suggesting me first) if he would recommend anyone from his area for this position and he named me. Said that even though I have not been there very long that he was extremely pleased with my performance and reliability. That I was already surpassing most of my co-workers in areas that are highly important to the company.
I am very excited. This can be a very good move for me right now financially and will be a big booster to my resume. I was concerned however that since my best friend is getting married very soon and I have definitive plans for a few days surrounding the wedding that it might cause a problem but my new manager had no problem with those days, and is just eager to get me!!
It seemed to spread like wildfire throughout the company however (thanks to one of my co-workers who is the biggest busy body - I mean she has the audacity to outright accuse people in our multi-weekly meetings of the most ridiculous things just to "try" to get others in trouble) and all of my co-workers were curious to see if I had applied for this new position. When I told them no, that I didn't even know about it till I was offered the job many of them congratulated me on my good fortune, but a few seem extremely miffed that they weren't even considered and the semi-"new" person got the position.
I already like the new area of the company I am with and the smaller group of co-workers I have are very nice and seemed eager to have me join their team. So now I am just hoping I don't get a little overwhelmed with this new position since school (I am a full time student working towards two seperate degrees) just started back this past Monday!
