I was just talking to my mom and sister about Port Orleans and how it used to be Dixie Landings, and I was just wondering if anyone remembered (and stayed at) Dixie Landings and if you liked it better then or now (as PO). Maybe it's me being nostalgic, but DL was the first hotel I stayed at in WDW and I miss it. I was kind of sad when they changed it. So, this is just me being curious and wondering if anyone else missed it too.

I liked it better when it was just Dixie Landings.I really don't care for it now.It seemed more personal to me back then( even though it still is large)

Oh good, I thought I was the only one. People think I'm insane now when I tell them that I liked Dixie Landings better. But that's exactly what I was thinking, it seemed more personal and private.

I stayed at DL in 1999 and POFQ in 2004 and I have to say, that I thought they were both wonderful!
But I also have to be honest and say that I don't remember much about DL, other than having a wonderful time.

To me, "Port Orleans - Riverside" sounds like an industrial shipping complex. Bleh. I'll go to my grave refusing to call it that.

I agree. And Dixie Landings was the first on site place we ever stayed at as well. Back in 1993. Loved the logo.

I stayed at Dixie Landings a few times, and I liked the idea that it was a totally separate resort. Now, even with the FW and R designations, it just feels like one big resort.

That doesn't keep me from staying there though!

Dixie Landings was our first resort too. I really loved the name. I still remember a cast member telling our family that the name was going to be changed. We still stay there though

Count me in as someone that loved it more when it was just Dixie Landings. That was my honeymoon resort in 1994. DH refuses to call it PO Riverside and still refers to it as Dixie Landings even when we stayed there again after the change. I think we have stayed there twice before the name change and twice after.

I had my DisneyMoon at DxL in 1998. We are going back for a visit this time, just to see if we actually remember anything. I remember that it was big and confusing, and I guess it still is.

I only stayed there for 2 nights & I wasn't impressed back then.

But I should say it was my first and only moderate I ever stayed at so that didn't help me in being impressed.
