At work this morning, our office was settling in for just your average Tuesday work day, when one of the girls pointed out these back packers that were running in and out of traffic tapping on car windows, looking like they were trying to get directions.
We thought they were crazy, and then we saw the camera man...
Another one of the girls went outside to see what they were looking for (we're real estate agents, we know where everything is) and it turns out they were trying to get to a small town about an hour over.
Next thing we knew she was running back into her office, with the camera man following her. She picked up her car keys and called to the office in general "I'm going to Gunnedah, be back in 2 hours!" and off she went...
Turns out it was the French/Belgium version of The Amazing Race!
So that lady took off driving them to Gunnedah, and we got onto our contacts and organised a way from them to get from there to Coonabarabran and then from there they've got to get to Lightning Ridge by the end of the day.
We saw 2 teams near our office, and when they got to Gunnedah there was another team there trying to hijack the lift we'd organised to Coonabarabran. As far as we know, the team we were helping was the only one who headed to Lightning Ridge via. coona, every one else looked like they were going through Narrabri - but we knew that there are many closed roads due to flooding that way.
I'm dieing to know how far they got!
Sorry for the long post, but it was a bit exciting! Now just to find out when that version of the Amazing Race will go to air, so we can try and get a copy of it in Oz to watch!
